Gregis (884), Overland Park, Kansas, USA Aug 22, 2007 Pours black with just a hint of ruby highlights and a dense, creamy, tan head. On the nose are notes of: chocolate, molasses, banana bread, and roasted malt. Quite nice. Medium-bodied and oily while remaining lively on the tongue and concluding with a lightly bitter finish. The flavor is a blend of dark roasted malt, chocolate and molasses with a tight, tongue squeezingly bitter finish. A roasty molasses aftertaste lingers along with a nice hop bitterness. This is a very tasty beer.
Mitch_Wayne (77), Kokkola, Finland Aug 20, 2008 Chocolate aroma, slightly smoky, sweet. Chocolate taste, nice bitterness in the end along with sweet notes. I like this a lot more than in the first try, the mouthfeel is soft and rich. A very good beer. rayOfBeer (219), El Cerrito, California, USA Aug 19, 2008 Poured from tap black with a mocha colored medium sized head. Aromas of sweet malt and roast grain. Flavor is mildly sweet with malt, toffee, soft roast grain and coffee. Palate has a smooth feel with a light grain bitter-sweetness at the end. Not too thick, not too thin. Great porter for most occasions. Borresteijn (427), Amstelveen, Netherlands Aug 18, 2008 On tap. Dark brown/black beer, beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel, coffee. Flavour is sweet, caramel, coffee and bitter roasted malts. Bittersweet finish. NomDeBeer (129), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Aug 15, 2008 Remarkably complex flavor - toffee, chocolate, ripe fruit, peanut brittle, hoppy bitterness, and even a touch of alcohol. Could use a bit more body, but I’m not complaining. Good beer. alexsdad06 (618), Ohio, USA Aug 15, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours dark brown with a large creamy beige head. The aroma is chocolate, barley, slight roast, and dark fruit. The flavor has creamy semi sweet chocolate, cocoa, dark fruit, anise, and a nice touch of bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied, smooth, very enjoyable. Nothing is over the top, just a well crafted porter
