COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Francisco’s famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

Bottle- pours out a dark brown with a burnt orange head. Aroma was sour, a little rancid. Fortunately the taste didn’t follow suit. Sweet black coffee with some obvious alcohol. Palate was thin and heavily carbonated. Not my cup of tea. Average.

Wow is this good. Seeing it say 5.6% surprised me. The flavours that come from this you would normally see in at least an 8 or 9. So rich with chocolate, plum, some coffee, and prune. Simply one of the best porters I’ve tried so far.

Pours almost black, rubied, with a huge, dark tan head. Aroma is chocolate/banana.....roast. Taste is creamy, chocolate, light coffee bean, banana, Slight smoke. Spiced bitter that lingers. Exceptionally good.

Pours very dark brown, light brown head. Aroma of not much roast, a lot of chocolate malt, banana. Flavour is banana and chocolate. Sweet finish. Can’t say it’s my favourite style of porter.

Black, merest tint of ruby; tan head; fruity, hoppy aroma; roasted malt, smokiness and American hops; the very definition of solid.

12oz bottle. The pour was a deep dark murky black with an average (1-2 finger) medium beige frothy head that reduced down to a thin scattered film with a large collar, and produced some fair spotty lacing. The aroma was of a roasted bread malt, mild resin hops and an earthy yeast with notes of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, toffee, dark fruit (figs) and a whiff of smoke. The taste was lightly sweet with a bold malty roastiness and hints of toffee and chocolate in the beginning, becoming much bitterer with a large coffee presence, a mild fruitiness and had a hoppy smoky finish. The flavor hung on for a nice long time proceeding the swallow, with a bitter roasty smoky taste left behind to linger on the taste buds for a while longer. Mouthfeel was just a tad under medium in body with a dry, oily texture and a surprisingly fizzy carbonation. Overall this was a very tasty and satisfying brew with a smooth roasty bitterness, which was offset nicely by a mild sweet fruitiness. Simply said this is a well balanced and enjoyable brew... www.facebook.com/KAJIIsBeerReviews

One of the best porters out there, coffee and roastiness on the nose and taste. Simple and well rounded.
