COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Francisco’s famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

Bottle from Rai Wines, Harborne, Birmingham. Little aroma, but some choc. Jet black and a nice beige head, displaying a rocky personality. Amazing, fabulous smooth coffe cream taste. This is a brilliant, rounded pint - sweet smooth, creamy, balanced. All the flavours are in there, and there is a nice hint of bitterness in the mouthfeel. Top notch.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. This is the best porter I have ever had. An incredibly smooth flavor and texture. You cannot go wrong g with this beer

Not bad but not my favorite porter. Has a licorice like aftertaste. Probably would not get again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Again, too strong, I think american porters are over tasting in alcohol for me. I’ve always expected a more balanced beer than this one for a porter.

Not a big fan of this. There was an acridity, almost anise piece here that in other forms could have lended a great layer to this porter but here somewhat overwhelmed the taste. Looked great, with a tan head and a deep dark to red profile. Will revisit in the future in case there was something else going on here.

Porter 5.6% this beer gave me a fantastically thick dense tan foam and a great classic looking pour worthy of a Michael Jackson book. The aroma is savoury bitter chocolate with a rich roastiness. Medium bodied with fairly smooth mouthfeel. The taste is surprisingly bitter roasted malts with a nice depth of flavor - a bit nutty, savoury bitter semi-sweet chocolate with a hefty dose of roasted barley. While it isn’t a hugely challenging porter it does have a lot more flavor than I expected.

bottle 355 mL poured in pint. deep black color with tanned creammy head. aroma are malts with roasted coffee. flavor is intense, good bitterness with intense roasted coffee, caramel, nuts and kinda slight chocolate finish, sliky sensation afterwards and some bitterness that lingers, really good, maybe my 2nd favorite porter after london porter.

Simply the best. Thanks.
