COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Francisco’s famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

Great Porter. Beguiling aroma. Hints of sweet liquorice, toffee, and caramel but no coffee or chocolate. Great head of lasting beige foam and beer color of black with ruby sparkles. Tastes same as aroma. Sweet but not cloying with a soft syrupy palate and noticeable bittering and finishing hops.

Pours black with a thick tan lacing head. Aromas of chocolate and malt. Flavours of roasted malt, chocolate, oatmeal, hops. Not too sweet, just enough bitterness and very easy drinking. Top notch porter.

Black, strong beige head. Roasty cocoa and chocolate nose. Medium bodied, roasty, smoky, intense coffee and cocoa, hints of vanilla. Finishes chocolatey bitter. Delightful.

This beer pours a dark brown with some ruby shining through it when held up to the light. There is a small tan head that left a little bit of lacing around the glass. The aroma is roasted barley malt, some chocolate. In the taste is where this beer really comes alive. I get dark fruits, hop bitterness, chocolate, oatmeal, and some coffee. The mouthfeel is on the medium to heavy side. I really enjoyed this beer.

Jet black, rocky tan head with a decent lace. Nose is coco, chocolate malt with hints of dark fruit. Bittersweet. Middle is chocolate, currants, dark cake like sweetness. Finish has a nice little hop kick to finish the show. Tour de Force brewing.
