COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Francisco’s famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

Sampled from a 12 ounce bottle. With a thick tan head upon pouring, has a strong roasted scent. Very very dark brown, almost black, even when held up to light. Medium body, average carbonation. Has a small undercurrent of bitter hops throughout, but becomes more evident and turns to creamy in the finish. Overall an excellent beer.

Type: 12-oz. bottle Glass: Clear 14.75-oz. porter/stout glass From: Bine & Vine in Normal Heights (San Diego), Calif. Price: $1.79 (10 pct. off for 6-pack deal) Purchased: May 4, 2016 Consumed: May 19, 2016 Misc.: Bottled on Dec. 14, 2015 Can’t remember ever enjoying an Anchor beer and I don’t expect that to change with this porter, but I’ll keep trying. Poured a mahogany color with 3-to-4 fingers of khaki tan, frothy head. Average spotty lacing. Below average retention. (Sight - 3.50) Smelled roasty malts, sticky toffee, spoiled dark plum, fig, raisins, hints of roasted nuts, dry chocolate, rough molasses, cocoa and unknown hops. Almost reminded me more of a dry stout. (Smell - 3.75) Tasted better than the nose and more like a porter. Got roasty malts, bitter dry chocolate malt, dry cocoa, dark plum, raisins, hints of dark fig, charred molasses, toast, muted black coffee, dark toffee and unknown generic hops that you find in cheap-ass beer (thinking DieselPunk Porter). (Taste - 3.75) Medium-to-full body. Sticky texture. Average carbonation. Long, bitter finish. (Feel - 4.00) Might have underrated this slightly overall, but just slightly. Maybe the best Anchor beer I’ve had though. (Overall - 3.75) 3.76 85 B+

Cerveza negra, bastante buena. Cuerpo medio, con buen sabor como a regaliz, aunque me gustaría que fuese un poco más largo.

Big roasty porter that’s nice on the palate! Pours black w/ a tan head that leaves good lacing. The aroma has some lovely chocolate & roasted notes. The taste is chocolate & velvety smooth upfront & then in traditional porter fashion has a roasty & bitter finish. Pretty darn tasty!

Probada en barril, porter muy intensa con aroma a cafe torrefacto. También se pueden apreciar ciertas notas de vainilla y caramelo

caramel, bread, coffee, basement aromas, brown, cloudy, frothy, heavy cloying sweetness, sweetness, medium bitterness, lightly sour, light body, creamy, long finish, Sí joder!

Butelka 355ml w The Squere Bottle Chester. Czarny kolor. Piana bezowa palona dosc obfita. W aromacie wyrazna czekolada karmel kawa i palone-wedzone slody. Lekkie nuty owocowe w tle. W smaku raczej wytrawne niz slodkie. Kawa karmel lekka czarna porzeczka. Z pewnoscia mniej ciezkie niz wiekszosc porterow. Bardzo pijalne.

355mL bottle Near black body, holds a dense tan head. Decent nose to it - roast nuts, dark caramels, dark chocolate, touch of woody hop in the mix, Full bodied, slightly creamy yet drying texture to it, moderate carbonation. Lovely body - moderate roasty note of burnt crust, roast nuts, crystally dark toffee. Firm bitterness, dry finish. Good stuff.
