COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Francisco’s famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

Pours dark with a very nice and long lasting tan head. Aroma of dark chocolate with a hint of roasted coffee. Flavor of toffee, roasted barley and a hint of dark chocolate. Rich and malty but overall a very dry brew with a bitter finish but that’s not always a bad thing. A very good porter that’s worth a try.

355 ml. bottle @ home. pours a dark brown almost black colour with 1 finger of dense white foam. medium duration. aromas are of chocolate, licorice and maybe tobacco. the taste is kinda light bodied, but the notes is caramel, chocolate and licorice in a small amount.. a hell of a porter :)

Dark brown/black color; Medium creamy body; Aroma of toasted malt, chocolate, & subtle dark fruit; Flavor of roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, coffee, and dark fruit; Nicely balanced; Overall, I enjoyed this one.

Clear dark purple brown to black beer, big frothy beige head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: sweet caramel, dried fruits, slight mocha hint, liquorish. MF:low carbon, medium body. Taste: caramel, sweet malts, brown sugar, toast, little nutty, dried cranberries. Aftertaste: mocha, bit sour, some hop bitterness, cocoa powder.

Purchased at Armanetti’s in Chicago, IL; enjoyed after a couple of days span of saying bye to people at work. Appearance is pitch black with a very frothy tan head that laces to the glass, looks decadent. Aroma of roasted chocolate malt, more malty than anything, a hint of molasses which is unusual for a porter. Taste is pretty good, standard really, more malty than hoppy, chocolate presence, nice bitterness to it. Very solid porter.

Wow! Black color with ruby highlights, thicky moka head. Aroma of porcini mushrooms (Boletus aereus), roasted malt. Taste is rich, from coffee to mushrooms again (unbelievable!). Leaves a pleasant aftertaste. Body is a bit oily, soft carbonation.

Bottle Pours black with a tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, plums. Taste is malts, chocolate, sweet dark dried fruits. Very good drinkability.
