COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Francisco’s famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

Good dark but sweet flavor, this is a good porter, not real hoppy and not to malty.

Bottle - not at all what I was expecting and I love it. Has aromas ant taste of chocolate and fruit, and an earthy-sour taste that is great, plus a solid dry hop note on the palate. A bit milky and a lint of sweet spiciness. Absolutely unique beer, only thing close to it was Guinness Foreign Extra Stout (the dry sourness.) Dark brown with big tan head.

Another very decent porter. it’s close to Bell’s, but Bell’s is a Michigan brewery and I have to give the nod to the local boys. There’s nothing wrong with this beer. It has all the qualities you expect in a good porter - just not great.

Bottle from Csakajósör. Strong lasting foam, very light aroma. Overpowering banana hints in the falvour that put me off totally. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a rich ebony black color, with a creamy mocha head. Nose is malty and somewhat sweet. Taste is full bodied with bitterness and chocolate. Despite the low ABV can taste some alcohol. Landing is medium, with some chocolate and again some alcohol residue. Personally, would have liked a bit more sweetness. Quaff Score 7 /10 Nothing to rave about have had better

Pours black with a brown head and aroma of roasted malt. Taste is sweet and toasty, of roasted malt, hops, chocolate, fruits and alcohol with a smooth finish. Different tasting porter, nicely done.

Bottle. Pours a deep black with a thick brown head. Nice, malty aroma of chocolate, cereal grains, and a touch of coffee. The flavor is similarly malty - not much presence of the hops. Complex malts, with chocolate, vanilla, and toast. A bit of coffee on the aftertaste. A solid porter.
