| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Nov 28, 2005 Not impressed, although for 3.3% it did have some flavor. A very light and herbally bitter beer. Resin and hops dominate the flavor and as we all know I’m much more a fan of nice strong complexity maltiness. So...a pass on this one. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 23, 2005 Pours copper with a small white head. Smell is very non-distinct with some basic biter notes. Taste is watery, but pleasant. This is very drinkable for a second runnings beer. MiP (9162), Sønderborg, Denmark
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Nov 22, 2005 Bottle. Weak, hoppy aroma. Copper colour, small white head. Bitter start which stays for a long time. Very good for a beer of this ABV. SledgeJr (3032), Omaha, Nebraska, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Nov 14, 2005 In the big bottle. We tasted this first at the 2005 Barleywine Tasting because we knew we would not notice the beer had we delved right into barleywines. In spite of this, the beer seemed very watery. Has a high bitterness, in fact it is too bitter and out of place. Dark gold in color with a poor head. It is remarkable that this color of beer can be sparged out of a second run. It just does not taste very good. tennisjoel (953), Shakopee, Minnesota, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Nov 13, 2005 The aroma of this beer is very wheaty. Appearance is impressive enough. Darker golden color. I like the idea of recycled beer, but I think most of the good taste was left for the barleywine...this one is somewhat weaker and probably is one of Anchor’s worst offerings. However, that said, I still prefer it over most macro pilsners. And I guess for 3.3% ABV, it could qualify as a light beer. frankenkitty (1903), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 7, 2005 An off-white, average-sized & rocky head formed over a very lightly-hazed, amber body. Aroma was grainy & nutty with well-roasted malt. Bitter flavor, somewhat weak and thin, with a tinny finish that also held burnt nuttiness.
I gave a bonus overall point for recycling and a bonus point for appearance as I really enjoyed the backstory on "small beers". I then took away a point for flavor because this tasted nothing like <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/Beer/anchor-old-fogho Foghorn. Rate as you will.
