COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Francisco's famous Anchor Steam®, the classic of American brewing tradition since 1896, is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. The deep amber color, thick creamy head, and rich flavor all testify to our traditional brewing methods. Anchor Steam is unique, for our brewing process has evolved over many decades and is like no other in the world. Anchor Steam derives its unusual name from the 19th century when "steam" seems to have been a nickname for beer brewed on the West Coast of America under primitive conditions and without ice. The brewing methods of those days are a mystery and, although there are many theories, no one can say with certainty why the word "steam" came to be associated with beer. For many decades Anchor alone has used this quaint name for its unique beer. In modern times, "Steam" has become a trademark of Anchor Brewing.

Pours a nice light orange, with lots of bubbles and a little head. Smelled of lightly roasted malts, hops and bread, which was all refreshing. The taste was like honey, which turned to bitter hops quickly. This subtle hop twang gave off to a wheat tang that had a really filling flavor to it. Finished nice and bitter with a hint of caramel. Very nicely balanced, and pretty complex for such a light beer. As the description says, this beer truly is unique.

Satt med några vänner och drack och provsmakade en del öl. Vi kom överens om att detta var ett av de bättre. Fin och stor smak, mycket öl för både pengar och alkoholprocent.

clear amber brown liquid, pours a foamy, slightly tanned medium thick head. a malty scent with floral characters. earthy tones with leather and dough/bread, hint of vinegar and wood. the tasty is very crispy malty with a solid hoppy fruity side. the palate is surprisingly thick with a medium full hazy-feel body. carbonation is tingly and works well the bitterness. an interesting beer from anchor with solid simple characte

12oz bottle. Filtered orange-tan, thin head. Mellow, malty aroma, some light fruity nuances. Medium bodied, well balanced, refreshing. Light soapy, citrus hop tones. Pretty much the gold standard for Steam beer, an absolute classic.

Pretty decent beer, though i prefer the liberty of Anchor brewery. I like the hops they use with both of those beers, though. Drank in a bottle in Taipei, Taiwan

Pours a dark golden orange color with a two finger frothy, pillowy white head that has excellent retention, only slowly fading into a lasting cap/ring. Chunks of soapy lacing left behind. Slightly earthy aroma with floral, piny hops, sweet malt and light fruit. Hints of caramel, toffee and nut. Medium bodied with a slight creamy texture that adds fullness to the palate. Crisp floral hop presence up front that’s only faintly dry and bitter. This is countered by the sweet malt and light fruit notes. Hints of caramel, biscuit, toffee, hazelnut and apricot. Well balanced and easy to drink. There is nothing outstanding about this beer but it’s well crafted and sessionable.
