COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Francisco's famous Anchor Steam®, the classic of American brewing tradition since 1896, is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. The deep amber color, thick creamy head, and rich flavor all testify to our traditional brewing methods. Anchor Steam is unique, for our brewing process has evolved over many decades and is like no other in the world. Anchor Steam derives its unusual name from the 19th century when "steam" seems to have been a nickname for beer brewed on the West Coast of America under primitive conditions and without ice. The brewing methods of those days are a mystery and, although there are many theories, no one can say with certainty why the word "steam" came to be associated with beer. For many decades Anchor alone has used this quaint name for its unique beer. In modern times, "Steam" has become a trademark of Anchor Brewing.

I can find nothing special about this beer. Nice aroma and and pour. Something to be desired on the palate and finish. Slight hop, light carbonation, but really lacking in the finish - very dry. Awesome bottle though.

Amber tinted orange pour. Clear with a thick fluffy light tan head. Light caramel malt aroma with hints of yeast. Nutty malt flavor. Dry with hints of caramel. Moderate bitter finish. Overall a pleasant and easy to drink beer.

Pours a nice deep copper with an off white head. Pretty beer. Tasty - nothing jumps out and grabs you but the whole thing works well. Crisp, clean, good balance of bitterness and body Faint floral maybe herbal note. Even not being much of a lager fan, this one always wins me over.

Two finger white head that’s mostly lasting decent lacing, pours a golden color, malty with a slightly bitter hops finish, ok nothing special

The flavour has some toffee notes, carmel even a little metallic taste. There seems to be a nice balance between the malt and the hops. The aroma for the beer has some biscuit notes and some sweetness. As well a little grassy thrown in the mix Pours a light amber color with an nice creamy off white head. There is a small amount of lacing present. The finish has a little bitterness from some citrus hops but nothing that tends to linger around. To be honest this beer reminds me of Samuel Adams Lager. This is a nice smooth drinking beer. I look forward to drinking more of these in the future.

Served on tap at the Plano Gingerman. The beer pours and orange-amber color with a white head. The aroma is grassy hops with some grapes and caramel malt. The flavor is toffee, grassy hops, grain and some metallic notes. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Good for the style, but this is a style I am not much of a fan of.
