COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Francisco's famous Anchor Steam®, the classic of American brewing tradition since 1896, is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. The deep amber color, thick creamy head, and rich flavor all testify to our traditional brewing methods. Anchor Steam is unique, for our brewing process has evolved over many decades and is like no other in the world. Anchor Steam derives its unusual name from the 19th century when "steam" seems to have been a nickname for beer brewed on the West Coast of America under primitive conditions and without ice. The brewing methods of those days are a mystery and, although there are many theories, no one can say with certainty why the word "steam" came to be associated with beer. For many decades Anchor alone has used this quaint name for its unique beer. In modern times, "Steam" has become a trademark of Anchor Brewing.

12 oz. bottle. Pours clear orange, light white head and good lacing. Aroma of banana, honey, light roasted nuts and almost a noble hops aroma. Very light sweetness followed by a great hop bitter flavor. Light body, but the finish is a little too bitter.

Bottle. Pours dark orange with a fluffy white resilient head. Grainy aroma with some citrus. Earthy flavours with orange zest-like lingering bitterness. Semi-Dry Finish. Had to try it once i guess. The beer delivered, however did not impress too much.

Amber-orange color, reminds me a lot of the beer "palm". Small head, disappears to quick also. Aroma some kind of sour, fruity, honey. Bitter-sour taste, bread, some fruits, citrus, very bitter aftertaste, bread, earth. I think it’s a bit overrated.

Bottle. Clear orangey amber with a fluffy white head that doesn’t last too long. Grainy, malty aroma with hints of citrusy hops. Flavour is very similar but with a stronger hop presence, with notes of orange, lemon and pine. Light mouthfeel with high carbonation and a long bitter finish. Good warm weather session beer, easy to drink but not particularly outstanding.

Style #63. I can’t believe I went so long without rating this brew! Orange with white foam and lace. Nose is light vegetable and yeast. Light citrus. Taste is again light citrus and yeast. Bitter and bland finish. Better than Bud, I guess.

Bottle at home. Pours a slight orange-red with a thick white head. Smells very faintly of apple and malt. Tastes slightly sweet. Medium body with a thin palate and average carbonation.

bottle, pours dark orange with a tall frothy off white head. Aroma is cream soda, alcohol, banana, and hay. Flavor is rich and biscuity lots of nice bread and grass malts. The finish is lightly bitter with more of the malts and light metallic notes. Thin hop resin finish on the back end. Solid everyday drinker.

Aroma of biscuit and some hops. Medium carbonation. Really refreshing and flavorful beer. A fantastic session brew.
