I really liked this beer. Had a gorgeous mellowed hops flavor to it, almost as if you took raw hops (at least the ones I sniffed at Sam Adams brewery), took that scent, and blended it into the beer. Mahogany color. Very difficult to describe the flavor and feel, but a good classy beer that reads for good drinking at the bar.

Aug 19, 2008 Bottle. Aroma of yellow, orange, red fruits, pale/caramel malt, floral hops that blend in nicely. Flavor has a rich toasted character mingling with all the fruitiness and light hop bitterness. Full bodied but easy drinking and refreshing. Very nice beer.

Aug 17, 2008 355ml Bottle. Light amber with small white head. Light malt aroma. Pleasantly clean, crisp, dry taste with clean, dry aftertaste. Good maintenance beer for a hot thirsty summer day. Not as bitter as the Liberty.

Aug 16, 2008 Brown color white head. Slight malt aroma. Sweet malt taste with slight hop finish. Good smooth beer.

Aug 15, 2008 Faint clean pale malt aroma. Clear light amber with small white head. Clean pale malt flavor with touch of caramel and slight bitterness. Light body and mouthfeel. Nice dry finish with low bitterness.

Aug 15, 2008 Darker color than I expected, not sure why because this is my first California Common . . . possibly my last if this is representative of the style. Flavor is wet cardboard and the kind of sweet malt you might find in a bad Begian Dubbel. Drinkable, but not by much.
