COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Francisco's famous Anchor Steam®, the classic of American brewing tradition since 1896, is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. The deep amber color, thick creamy head, and rich flavor all testify to our traditional brewing methods. Anchor Steam is unique, for our brewing process has evolved over many decades and is like no other in the world. Anchor Steam derives its unusual name from the 19th century when "steam" seems to have been a nickname for beer brewed on the West Coast of America under primitive conditions and without ice. The brewing methods of those days are a mystery and, although there are many theories, no one can say with certainty why the word "steam" came to be associated with beer. For many decades Anchor alone has used this quaint name for its unique beer. In modern times, "Steam" has become a trademark of Anchor Brewing.

Looks good...drinks somewhat less. Not real easy going down with a somewhat bitter aftertaste. Overall, definitely average.

A slightly bitter beer, good color, fairly easy to drink. Not something that I would drink more than a few at a time

Nice rich and deep beer. The taste lingers, perhaps a bit too long. I particularly enjoy the hints of sweetness that creep through the bitterness. Overall a great beer and a fall favorite of mine!

Anchor Steam is a quality beer , incredibly smooth with a great taste. Slightly expensive, but the quality of this beer makes it worth the buy.

Hoppy with a moderate note of resin/pine, light note of herb; Yeasty with a light note of dough; Trace miscellaneous note of orange-blossom honey. All and all, really cereal-like, not very vibrant. The flavor was moderately sweet, lightly acidic, trace bitter with a long, light-to-moderately bitter, lightly sweet finish

Now here’s an enoyable beer. Has a smooth palate that give a tang in the aftertaste - really refreshing. And a True Blue Amerian Brew Too! It’s lager brewed at ale temperature - An inviting gold appearance with amber foam and sublime, smooth taste. Really excellent and original.

An American classic. A truely one of a kind beer. Lager smoothness with ale flavor. A personal favorite.
