COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Francisco's famous Anchor Steam®, the classic of American brewing tradition since 1896, is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. The deep amber color, thick creamy head, and rich flavor all testify to our traditional brewing methods. Anchor Steam is unique, for our brewing process has evolved over many decades and is like no other in the world. Anchor Steam derives its unusual name from the 19th century when "steam" seems to have been a nickname for beer brewed on the West Coast of America under primitive conditions and without ice. The brewing methods of those days are a mystery and, although there are many theories, no one can say with certainty why the word "steam" came to be associated with beer. For many decades Anchor alone has used this quaint name for its unique beer. In modern times, "Steam" has become a trademark of Anchor Brewing.

En ganska speciell öl. En trevlig fyllighet, men ingen vidare beska. En särskild ton i smaken, från den unika tillverkningen?

Clear, amber color with small white head. Wonderfull aroma. Notes of tropical fruits, oranges, grass, apricot - mixed with malty-caramel background. Medium bitterness balanced with medium sweetness. Flavours of malts, caramel, bread, grass, floral. Medium body with medium carbonation. Really good, classic beer.

Amber color, off-white head. Fruity nose, wood, caramel malt, hint of yeast. Sweet malty taste, fruity notes, dry finish. Velvety texture, soft carbonation, light to medium body.

Pored into lager glass. Beer is light amber with a strong carbonation, medium head and gentle haze in the body. Beer has a gentle yeast aroma and the body is light and malty, with a good fizz. Fairly bitter with a touch of sourness in the finish.

Medium-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, orange & apricot. Reminds me of an alt or amber ale with higher carbonation and that lager mouthfeel. Grassy hops to round out the finish.

12 oz. bottle poured to a Czech-pils glass at Lunar Brewing Co., displaying a clear & bright, orangey gold color, with a frothy/cakey layer of fairly persistent, white head foam, and waves & spots of lacing. The nose was light grain, light yeast, lightly toasted & sweetened malt, and a subtle fruit scent. Light to medium bodied, with fairly lively carbonation, the taste incorporated the aroma notes, and added a moderate, earthy bitterness that lingered with some dryness to form a pleasantly crisp finish. A quite sessionable, benchmark brew that I’ve enjoyed many times, and presupposed that I had reviewed.

Silky, smooth, pilsner-esque beer with a creamy head. Well balanced with caramel & honey malts & the perfect amount of hops (presumably from the years of perfecting this beer). Unusual without being overwhelming - it is easy to see why this beer has survived over time. Rated by BrewTom

Tap at Le Senk. Aroma is hoppy, some caramel malt, light fruity. Clear golden colour, heavy white head, stable. Taste is reversed, rather bitter up front and fruity/caramel in a moment. The hops flavour is somewhat dull, without character. Finish is rather short. Overall thin bodied and somewhat dusty. Average.

Snygg etikett, obefintlig "head", ettrig kolsyra, mörk bärnstens färgad, över "pilsner"bäska Kommer troligen inte köpa denna igen
