FrankJohansen (3327), Sabro, Denmark Feb 15, 2007 Bottle. Clear golden colour with a huge creamy head. Rich aroma and taste of wheat and fruits. Very sweet. not my idea of a wheat beer. Maria (6056), Thisted, Denmark Feb 4, 2007 Golden with an OK head. The aroma is slightly fruity. The flavour is slightly sweet with weak notes of fruit, honey and a bit of citrus in the finis. The wheat is difficult to find, and I wouldn’t have guessed the style. Quenching sure, but also a bit boring. altonbrownd (1862), Amsterdam, Netherlands Jan 26, 2007 Bottle at home. Orange colored. Small and fast-fading head. Sugary and wheaty taste. I do enjoy Anchor so have been looking forward to tasting this off-season, in Europe. Fruity, with hoppy flavours, suitable tartness and some lacing. Overally not too much taste, nor texture, and lack of a strong finish. Smooth but flat. My least favorite so far. MrBendo (1039), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA Jan 21, 2007 Updated: Jan 25, 2007Clear amber with a large head. Spare lacing. Aroma of sugar and wheat. Taste some pepper, but it’s spare. Light body, lively to average carbonation. Dry aftertaste.
You feel like your tasting some history by the description on the label. Unfortunately, theres a lot better wheats today. faroeviking (6016), Republica Vikingo de las, Faroe Islands Jan 17, 2007 Bottle. Brewed since 1984. A nice light tasting malty and fruity summer wheat brew. detroiter (958), Euphoria, Minnesota, USA Jan 13, 2007 Pours an effervescent gold, topped by 3” of soft white foam. Great head retention, spotty lacing. Mild tart aroma. Light and clean, some dry wheat and a hint of sour citrus. Small hop presence in the finish. Light and tart summer refresher, nothing more irishsnake (353), Oakland, California, USA Jan 11, 2007 beer pours a bright gold with a good sized white head that laced reasonably well. nose is somewhat sweet and grainy, with that somewhat toasty note that I associate with malted wheat. flavor is clean and somewhat neutral, with again a grainy note and a light hop finish. pretty crisp palate, and very quenching. good for what it is - I’m not a huge fan of the "American Pale Wheat Ale" style - it seems like the "craft" version of a macro lager.
ogglethorp (882), Ohio, USA Jan 4, 2007 Bottle. Pours a clear golden color with a decent sized whihte head. Aroma is malt, faint tart fruit. Flavor is malt, wheat, citrus. Palte is light, medium carbonation, bitter finish. Blah. Zzzzzzzz.
