I’m a huge fan of the Anchor Brewery but this is a disappointing beer. Pours amber with big foaming white head which dissipates after a few minutes. Nose is sweet grainy malt and some citrous. Taste is thin in the mouth and watery. Dryness from the hops and bitterness but little malt and flavour is flat. Finish is bitter.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a Samuel Adams Perfect Pint glass.
Appearance: Pours a lightly hazy medium golden yellow with a 2 finger sudsy snow white head. Nice head retention and lacing.
Smell: Sweet malt with a touch of citrusy hops and grains. The aroma is very light.
Taste: Lightly bitter citrus up front followed by malt in the middle before a surprising amount of hoppy bitterness at the finish. Aftertaste is mild and fairly bitter.
Mouthfeel: Light-bodied with a high amount of prickly carbonation.
Drinkability: Goes down very easily. You could knock back a few without any trouble on a hot summer day.
Overall: Pretty good beer overall. I feel like Anchor was going for something light and refreshing for summer and this meets the criteria. I’d consider this to be a step above light beer, which in this case isn’t a bad thing. I’d recommend giving this one a shot on a hot day.

355ml bottle. Fuck, this is so pasteurised-English in character I can’t stand it. Pours fizzing with a Gillette head you could float a pound coin on. Subdued, mildly vegetal aroma with card and weak spruce. Sherbet-sprinkled card character; soporific aniseed, oak, egg custard notes. But not that interesting. Drinks like pasteurised Bateman’s. Slightly salty, burtonised. OK, the head is unusually thick and well-retained. And?? Looks and feels like a no alcohol lager: dense with emptiness. Lacks everything I love about US beer and embodies everything I hate about UK beer. Piss poor really, and about as summery as a fortnight in Skegness.

A: The pour is a pale golden-amber color with a white head.
S: Smells of corn and vegetables with a bit of candy. Light floral and herbal hops and a bit of grass. There’s just something very off qbout the smell of this beer...
T: Sweet bread and sugar, a really sweet, almost candy-like flavor. There are some light hop notes, mostly of the grassy and floral varieties. Really a strange/odd beer.
M: I would call the body and carbonation medium.
O: As good as some Anchor beers can be, they have some pretty bad ones.

...had it on tap at the pour house in Tampa. Wasn’t impressed, thin, watery. No real wheat or yeast flavor or smothness. Had some grain notes, and the slightest hint of some citrus. Finished dry, and clean with no real aftertaste.

Pours a clear dark amber color with golden orange hues and a half finger white head that immediately fizzles into a thin ring. Not much in the way of lacing.
Slightly earthy, spicy around with subtle floral hops and sweet malt. Very subtle wheat characteristics coming through. Faint bready yeast with hints of caramel, biscuit and grassy hops. So far this beer is in almost complete contradiction to the description on the label.
Medium bodied but on the lighter end with zesty spice, earthy, floral hops and sweet malt notes. Again, I’m not pickig up much wheat beer character. Light and watery with some grassy hops up front followed by some peppery spice and sweet malt notes. Hits of caramel, toffee and biscuit. Bland but pretty easy to drink. I like their porter and steam beer but this was a disappointment.

Light golden color with a soft white head that dresses the glass with lace. Fragrant with wheat, noble hops and a touch of apricot. Light bodied, highly carbonated. Very lightly sweet, dry grassy finish. Wonderful aroma and appearance. Light and refreshing.

Lightish gold beer with a perfect 1" head, snow white. Guinness glass (only one on hand), beer clean, with active carbonation streams rising throughout. Some lager/pilsner aromas, but slightly more fruity/spicy notes than with a classic pils. Unusual cotton candy or confectionery sweet character comes through. Fantastic balanced beer. Full, round body with malt presence shining nicely. Slight hop spice and bitterness to balance in the finish. This is a textbook "beer beer," and one that boils down to "just good."

UPDATED: DEC 2, 2011 Bottle. Light gold pour with a moderate white head. Weak citrus and grassy aroma and taste. Close, but not quite, skunky. Not impressed.
