COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Anchor Summer is the first American wheat beer in modern times. Our first brew of this light and refreshing beer was in the summer of 1984.

Anchor Summer is an all-malt beer, and over 50% of its malt comes from malted wheat. It is fermented with a Triticum aestivum, AKA wheat traditional top-fermenting "ale" yeast because we prefer the clean flavors developed by this yeast. We believe that this style best celebrates the refreshingly light flavor of malted wheat. You may notice that the head on this beer is unusually abundant, with a consistency similar to whipped egg whites. This is due to protein contributed by the wheat.

The brewers at Anchor are proud to have revived not only rich hearty dark beers, but also this light crisp style of a modern American wheat beer.

Wheat malt contributes to an unusual lightness and dryness to the palate, and thisócombined with the distinctive flavor of the wheatómakes for a perfect thirst-quenching beverage. It is the ideal drink for beer lovers who appreciate tradition and character in their beer, but also seek a lighter, refreshing style, perfect for warm weather.

Golden pour with frothy white head. Great aroma of fresh fruit, lemon, fresh-baked bread, and plenty of floral notes. Damn is that refreshing! Crisp and light taste, biscuity malts, mild citus notes, lemongrass, and a herbal hop that gives it an excellent finish. Great crafted beer and one that I could drink a ton of in the summer (or any other time for that matter). Light and drinkable, but with enough complexity. I am always impressed with what Anchor puts out.

Pour from a 12oz bottle. Clear golden brew with an abundance of white head. Aroma of floral hops, almost perfumy. Taste is mild sweet malt at the start with a lemony citrus twang emerging mid swallow followed by a perfume / floral hops finish. This reminds me of Rinelander with the perfume going on... Well crafted and well balanced but the perfume does not really appeal to me.

A disappointment from Anchor Brewing ONLY because I expected more. A tad too watery for my liking and not enough flavor to keep me interested.

Wheat, toast, malt, not much banana. Low carbonation. Crystal clear golden. A bit of hops, citrus and bitter. An easy drink.

przyjemny dość delikatny, kwiatowy aromat, lekkie drożdże i bardzo lekki banan i goździk. kolor głębokiego złota, przejrzysty, piana niezbyt obfita, ale dość trwała i ładna. w smaku delikatny, půłpełny, świeży. goryczka niezbyt wysoka, ale przyjemna i wyraźna. lekko ziołowa w charakterze. nasycenie średnie. lekko kartonowy posmak.

Watery, wheaty and bit of lemon with nothing much else in the way of flavor. A surprising disappointment.

I always love everything from Anchor, but this is unfortunately, easily my least favorite. It just doesnít taste rich enough. Good for summer, I suppose, because it is so plain.

Pours a clear yellow with thin white head. Not much of an aroma, just a hint of wheat. Slightly sweet flavor with a bit of wheat. Not bad, but not Anchorís best beer.

Bottle. Nose is grass, malt, slight bran. Taste is light, almost lager malt leading to wheat, with slight brad and banana. Mouthfeel is too carbonated and the finish short. Itís a drinkable session beer, but deeply forgettable. From the bottle this beer is in itís 30th year, maybe itís showing itís age... I rather think the world has moved on.

Bottle. Crystal clear orange, large off-white head, creamy and slow to dissipate, nice lacing. Aroma is grain, honey, hay, wheat, grass. Flavor is medium sweet, very light bitter. Light body, high carbonation. Drinkable but very nondescript.

Cereal bread, lemon peel. Yeasty wheat, mild orange cake, dry coriander finish. Quite a disappointment by Anchor standards, not that bad but does have some of the macro beer stinkness I was not expecting...
