COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Anchor Summer is the first American wheat beer in modern times. Our first brew of this light and refreshing beer was in the summer of 1984.

Anchor Summer is an all-malt beer, and over 50% of its malt comes from malted wheat. It is fermented with a Triticum aestivum, AKA wheat traditional top-fermenting "ale" yeast because we prefer the clean flavors developed by this yeast. We believe that this style best celebrates the refreshingly light flavor of malted wheat. You may notice that the head on this beer is unusually abundant, with a consistency similar to whipped egg whites. This is due to protein contributed by the wheat.

The brewers at Anchor are proud to have revived not only rich hearty dark beers, but also this light crisp style of a modern American wheat beer.

Wheat malt contributes to an unusual lightness and dryness to the palate, and this—combined with the distinctive flavor of the wheat—makes for a perfect thirst-quenching beverage. It is the ideal drink for beer lovers who appreciate tradition and character in their beer, but also seek a lighter, refreshing style, perfect for warm weather.

0,35 l bottle, BierBeer, Budapest.
Poured clear golden with a small white lacing head. Light aroma of some fruity yeast, grains, easy hops. Easy body with a crisp flavor. Not a complicated one with light fruits and grains, herbal grassy hops.

Keg at crown and anchor. Straw colour with a white head. Aroma is malty, slightly yeasty, not great really. Flavour is malty and hops, a hint of tropical fruit perhaps with a slightly metallic taste too. Aftertaste isn't pleasant. Not great. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle->weizen. Gold with frothy white head. Aroma: wheat, citrus, grains, yeast. Taste is same. Blah.

Nice smooth aroma, malty and grainy. Pours clear amber with a thick foamy four finger head. Taste is really good for a wheat beer, sweet on the first sip but then finishes more like a typical wheat beer.

Saab hops seem to dominate the aroma along with a carbonic acid sourness. The flavor is a bit flat but its balanced enough and crisp enough to make it a decent summer beer. I guess they achieved their goal.

Solid beer in a bottle. A basic beer with an almost astringent taste, but the aftertaste wipes it away. Thought it would be a bit more citrus-tasting since it was a summer brew. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A light golden color with a big frothy white head that has great retention and lacing. Aroma is lighter than expected and is mainly composed of sweet malt and grain nada faint grassy scent. Disappointing. Flavor is light also with a graininess that reminds me more of a pilsner than a wheat beer. There is a slight grassy flavor and you can detect a small amount of wheat and bread flavor in the finish with almost no bitterness. Mouthfeel is soft and medium bodied with a medium carbonation. Was expecting more. With such a nice looking beer, I was hoping for more flavor.

What we have here is a decent summer time beverage. I wouldn’t call the flavors delicately balanced--little bit astringent for me. Drinkable, but I have a preference for the zest and citrus forward summer-time varieties that have become popular. This is not what I would call refreshing.

12 oz bottle served cold (2012 from notes) in a snifter. Pours a clear golden-amber color with a semi-dense off-white head that partially coats the glass but eventually reduces to a thin partial top coat and a lasting ring. The timid aroma features wheat and hops with some faint malt and citrus in the background. More flavor than aroma. In addition to the components detected by nose, there is a light citrus/lemon quality and a grassy note. A fine, lingering, mildly bitter aftertaste. M: medium-light body; quite dry, especially in the finish; good, medium+ carbonation. O: Not a favorite style. This is the weakest beer I’ve had from this beloved brewery. Still, it is good for style, well crafted, very drinkable, and rather refreshing.

Dobre i cytrusowe w aromacie to delikatne piwo. Wygladem przypomina nieco lagera. Brak metnosci ktorej sie spodziewale, Piana za to trwala ale niewielka ale tworzy pierscienie na pincie. Amerykanski chmiel wyczuwa sie nawet dosc mocno. Piwo pasuje na letnie upalne dni.
