COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Anchor Summer is the first American wheat beer in modern times. Our first brew of this light and refreshing beer was in the summer of 1984.

Anchor Summer is an all-malt beer, and over 50% of its malt comes from malted wheat. It is fermented with a Triticum aestivum, AKA wheat traditional top-fermenting "ale" yeast because we prefer the clean flavors developed by this yeast. We believe that this style best celebrates the refreshingly light flavor of malted wheat. You may notice that the head on this beer is unusually abundant, with a consistency similar to whipped egg whites. This is due to protein contributed by the wheat.

The brewers at Anchor are proud to have revived not only rich hearty dark beers, but also this light crisp style of a modern American wheat beer.

Wheat malt contributes to an unusual lightness and dryness to the palate, and this—combined with the distinctive flavor of the wheat—makes for a perfect thirst-quenching beverage. It is the ideal drink for beer lovers who appreciate tradition and character in their beer, but also seek a lighter, refreshing style, perfect for warm weather.

Pours a light pale straw in colour with a finger of soapy white head that dies slowly with some nice foamy, sticky lacing. The nose has a light citrus hop and a crisp, refreshing wheat malt and a hint of spice. Slightly sweet with a hint of lemon and a mild wheaty malt. Nice balance with almost no hop presence. Overall, a nice little session brew.

Bottle from Mane Liquor. So the missus decided to drink this before I came over and said it was amazing. Exact words. Now she isn’t the most prolific beer drinker but she generally can taste a quality beer from a half assed effort. I decided to bring over more of these the next time I went around. Well turns out I didn’t dig it anywhere near as much as her. Guess I don’t really drink a great deal of Summer Ales but it didn’t do anything for me. She, however, continues to enjoy it

Barwa złocista, piwo jest lekko mętne. Ładna, intensywna, drobno-pęcherzykowa piana, pozostaje obrączką do końca picia.

Piana drobno i średnio pęcherzykowa, krótka.

AROMAT: Słodki zbożowy aromat, płatki kukurydziane, aromat pieczywa, czewrone owoce (czereśnia, malina) i nuty cytrusowe

SMAK: Smak dwuwymiarowy słodowy (zboża) i owocowy (czereśnie, maliny). Wysycenie wysokie. Goryczka niska.

OGÓLNIE: Niestety piwo w tej konwencji wogóle do mnie nie trafia. Zapach jest słaby, a w smaku piwo jest po prostu mdłe.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a tumbler on 05.22.14. A: 2 finger head. See through honey/amber. S: Skunky hops. T: Wheat, malt. Flower is subtle. M: Creamy. Pretty watery after a few sips. O: This was somewhat tasteless. It had extremely subtle flavors with almost no hop presence. It only had a little bit of malt presence, which surprised me. I expected that it wouldn’t have been hop-heavy as it comes from an earlier time, but it should have had malt flavor.

12 oz. bottle into a Foothills glass A: Clear yellow/gold Tight low white head. Almost no visible carbonation. Clarity surprising for a wheat beer. Lace collar holds well. S: Wheat, I guess. Grain. T: Sharp, citrusy hops. Crisp, fresh wheat. Tastes fairly much like beer. M: Very light with good carbonation feel despite none seen. Crisp, clean though kind of wet finish O: Pretty good beer for a wheat. I do not like wheat beer so take this review with a grain of salt. This is fairly nice and probably my favorite one but that’s not saying much. Won’t buy again but glad I tried it.

Anchor Brewing is well known for outstanding beers and the Summer Beer doesn’t disappoint. from its sem-cloudy golden appearance to its awesome clean aroma, it is another winner for them. The taste is sooth with an overwhelming drinkability. lightly carbonated and pours with a small head. this is a must try if Anchor products are available in your neighborhood.

From a bottle. Pours clear, not much aroma, fruity with a mild sour finish. Not too bad.

Pours clear with an inbetween golden and amber color with a large frothy head that lasts long. Nice lacing. Quite a good looking sight. Aroma is a bit citrusy/grassy with some malts, bit of hay as well. Bit bland. Taste is clear hoppy bitter with a small kick of the malts and some fruits. Mild bittersweet touch in the aftertaste as well, yet far too watery. Not that special, but not bad though (despite the watery finish). Light bodied, with a thinnish mouthfeel... Soft and easy drinkable. Decent brew, certainly not bad, but a bit too bland with a watery miss in the aftertaste and on the palate. Should work out fine on a warm summer night.
