COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our California Lager is also a single-hop beer, using only fresh, whole Cluster hops, all descended from an old line originally grown in California. Cluster has a long history as a “dual-purpose hop” for both bittering and aroma, which creates a flavor profile like no other. Brewed with San Francisco tap water, fresh from Yosemite, and fermented with our own special strain of lager yeast, our California Lager is kräusened in the traditional manner and lagered in our cellars. The result is a uniquely sessionable lager beer, which is maltier, hoppier, and somewhat stronger than modern American lagers. Its brilliant golden color, lingering effervescence, balanced depth of flavor, distinctive aroma, and smooth finish make this inaugural brew of the Anchor Brewing Zymaster™ Series a delightful tribute to the rich heritage and traditions of California brewing.

A little surprised to see this today at the COOP... Picked up a few bottles and am getting to one while taking care of some business for tomorrow... Poured into my thin tulip.. clear golden.. small bubble white head rises up and drops pretty quickly but the cap leaves nice drapes of lacing. Nose shows clean pale malt with just enough hoppiness to balance.. smells fantastic. Good balanced bitterness that just allows a subtle pale malt sweetness to get interesting... Hop flavors are sorta grassy and inviting.. This is a really well done brew.. Perfect for an evening barbecue.. Light/medium body ... good bubble.. nicely drinkable..

Poured a golden yellow with a tall white head. The strong carbonation maintains a solid thin head covering. The aroma is hay and bread, where as the flavor is a little sweet and malty.

Pours pale gold with white head. Aroma is hay. Rather mild. Flavor is light bitter with grains and biscuit. It’s not bad, it’s just very subtle.

Bottle. 4.9%. Best before 10.16. Pours a clear, pale yellow with a white head. Slight lacing. Slightly hoppy aroma, with cereal and fruity notes, turning a bit grainy as it warms. Flavour is sweetish, fruity and grainy. A bit metallic as it warms. Bitter finish, grainy, and a wee bit watery, with a metallic overtone. Overall too grainy. 18.03.15.

Very yeasty, not my favorite aroma, reminds me of a cheap beer. Just not a huge fan of yager aroma though I dont think. Taste is certainly better. a little dry, but a more juicy start to the taste. Alright.
