Sour ale fermented in fouders with 3 strains of brettanomyces, aged in cognac barrels 11 months with a funky bunch of bacteria.

Light muddy brown, etched thin bubbled ring. Stewed peaches and boozy burnt toffee apple. Itchy yeast vibe, terse sweetness throughout cuts through the sourness. Rich and patient woodyness throughout spreads the bretty dusting. Finishes really raking tart and cherry. Linger is surprisingly clean.

Hazy brown with a small pale head. Aroma is blackcurrant, red wine. Medium bodied, thick on the palate, long fruity sweet finish. Flavours are blackcurrant, blackberry, fig balsamic reduction. Loving it.

Pours a nice brown color, with a tan head. Flavor is sour, puckering but not overbearing with fruits, cherries, balsamic, hints of cognac and oak. Perfect balance between sour, funk, and flavor. Amazing!

Corked 75 cl bottle @ home. Pours muddy brown with some sediment and an off-white head that leaves a little lacing. Aroma and flavour are vinous, brett, oak, red berries, and caramel - with a tart finish.

MacBoost (1440) - Pouring Bus, New York, USA - SEP 7, 2014
Pours a deep red amber with no head. Looks very flat. Aromas of sour dark fruit. Taste is tart and semi dry. Flavors of oak, funky bacteria, dark fruit, a touch of booze. Mouthfeel is thin and it is nearly flat. Easily chuggable. Finishes with a slight pucker but honestly, it could be more complex.

Bottle@guren brewing clean shave ipa with Bolton brewery. Small head dark copper brown. Barnyard sweat leather. Wet hay. Sweet sour. Tart finish. Good body!! Lactose!! Complex strange brew.

Thanks to Eric for sharing this bottle. Pours murky burnt ruby / brown (can ruby be burnt?). No idea what to make of this one on the nose. Some grape? Musty basement. Some grape-derived fruit condensed and aged in some kind of nicely charred barrel. A little balsamic. A lot more - I keep smelling and smelling this, interrupted by a search for a bottle of cognac I don’t own to see what the spirit is supposed to taste like. A little molasses and burnt sugars in there. Taste isn’t too tart - just a hint of puke, some sweetness, something almost campfire smoky. Just a bit sweet, lightly tart finish, only the tiniest bit of the sweetened Cheerios thing I don’t like in sours (doesn’t detract at all here - basically just right for my taste). Almost completely flat, medium full body, leaves a film coating my mouth. Feels bigger than the 7% abv actually is. Overall: glass and a half and I still don’t know how I feel, but I’m inclined to like it more and more the more I drink. Pretty cool beer.

Bottle at home. Pours clear intense brown, little to no white-greyish beige head. Funky fruit aroma; mango and peach, with some dried grapes (aka raisins), figs and plums, stewed forest fruits; quite a nice bouquet. Light body, a bit watery, nice oaky touches and subtle sourness. Very vinious but lacks body. Taste of a good fresh burgundy chardonnay; lots of burnt oak, sweet apple, slight balsamic vinegar touch. Would have expected a bit more dense body, but for the rest very subtle indeed. Nice collab of two beautiful American breweries!

Aroma so oaky! Smells like oak chips.

Dat barrely balance; obv a Stave beer. Cognac massages the palate. Meticulous balance. Dammit Chad, stop being so awesome.

On tap at GABBF. Colour...cloudy amber with a tan head. Nose...quite acetic and musty with stone fruits and white raisins. Palate...light, fruity with a zippy tang and plenty of quince and kiwi that melds well with acetic acid and apricot. There’s fig paste and a dry hit on the finish. Noice!
