Bottle:   Nice aroma of sweet and sour vinegar, under and over ripened cherries, with a bit of oak as well.   Similar tongue, smooth, very tart, not an overly sour example.   Good balance.   Seems to have the right amount of sweetness to that tart aspect.   Clean, doesn’t linger too long.   Very solid example of the style.   Could stand to be just a touch chewier, but as is its fairly smooth.   I like how its not overly tart or has a long lingering sourness that makes my mouth water.   Better for us acid reflux peoples.   Good stuff!

On tap at The Source. Pours a dark amber with medium beige head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is strong funk, oak, and fruit. Medium mouthfeel with dark fruits, light spice, tart in the finish. Easy to drink, very good.

Draft on tap at The Source (Denver, CO). Pours a deep dark brown hue, some blackish depth with just a hint of ruby glow. Cakey frothy tannish head atop. Good stick around, lacing is ok and pretty. Aromas are a bit deep and dark, cherry, oak some carmelized malts. Gentle toast, spice and faint smokiness. Some funky brett, farmhouse and straw. Initial is a bit deadened, toasty and carmelized. Some sour dark fruit, black cherry and oak. Some earth, funk, and more oak. Firm wood influence, gentle spice. Middle is a bit more funky, brett and cobwebs with oak, basement and house yeast spice. Backend is a bit more tart but some bitterness comes in, earth and gentle sourness tapers out, tannic oak. Ok, a bit funky, the sourness never rally asserts with some solid red fruit influence. Nose a bit deadened.

750ml bottle pours a murky brown with some creamy, white head. Nose has some balsamic vinegar, mild wood, a little grapey, malt, some caramel, some vanillin, green bell pepper. Flavor has lots of vegetal notes, caramel too, some fig/raisin, herbal, sumac, grape jelly, some vinegar. Tart finish.

Brown pour with a white head. The aroma has some toffee up front with some grapes and a bit of tartness thrown in. The flavor is also very nice. I get some grapes and orange notes as well as some light tartness. As the beer warms I start to get some oak and cognac notes. The fruit is very juicy and goes well with the tart notes. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Awesome beer.

czar (6012) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 13, 2015
bottle shared by mathieuc, many thanks bro! pours unclear dark brown with a small light beige cap, minimal retention and lacing. raspberries, cherries - citric fruits with an acetic touch, never overwhelming - balsamic figs; very spicy, chocolate powder, loads of tannins. light carbonation, light-medium acidity; light body; tingling, very tannic and grassy-spicy finish. nice but CS and anchorage alone do better..

Bottle shared at Churchkey. Thanks everyone! Amazing beer.... (can I stop my review right there). Anyway... Poured a beautiful looking dark orange color with a small foamy white head. Aroma was notes of wonderful funk - touch of balsamic, citrus and stone fruits. Nectarines, plum, apricot - with some acidic grapefruit character. Flavor had all those wonderful notes - tartness that hit all the right spots in the mouth, plenty of tangerine, light mango character - seriously, probably the best beer I’ve had this year.

Bottle @ CK. we’re officially on a roll. Deep brown with a tight off-white head. Rich red berry, brown sugar, mild sourness on the nose. The taste is quite tart. Apple and cherry skin. Buggy wood. Medium body, smooth. Solid.
