Craft Clerkenwell. Bruce’s UK Swan Song. Hazy gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is airy and semi dry, mild fine carbonation. Bretty savouryness. Mild lemon acid, little Worcester sauce. Finishes tangy, slightly woody and a little bitter. Okay.

750mL bottle. Pours a hazy pale yellow-gold, medium frothy white head with very nice retention and lacing. Nose is funk, Brett, hay, minerals, lemon, strawberry, melon, white pepper, bread. Mouth is medium bodied, mild tart, grass, white grapes, sauvignon blanc quality, lemons, with a long lingering grapefruit-peel bitterness which lasts throughout. Solid, but if I’m completely honest, I enjoyed the version bottled by Jolly Pumpkin a bit more. Okay, first intermission is almost done... Let’s Go Rangers!!

750ml bottle. Light clear amber with creamy beige head. Musty grapefruit, white pepper, oak, lemon, washed cheese rind, light funk, moderate+ carbonation and mild but citrusy body, slight funk and sour, potential for really good aging but mild on the finish, quite fruity, grapefruit and some oak on the finish as it dries out.

C&C 750 ml. Batch #2, bottled Dec. 2014. Pour is lightly hazy, pale straw color with a lasting thin layer of rocky foam. Nose of funky cheese, citrus zest, earthy honey and a touch of evergreen resin. Flavor is dominated more by the grapefruit and doesn’t have the depth indicated in the aroma. Nice touch of peppery zest grows stronger the further I delve. Just shy of medium body is dry with a mild grapefruit astringency. Mostly smooth, but medium-high carbonation feels right on this brew.

Bottle thanks to Colin. It pours cloudy golden orange with a small white head. The nose is sweet-sour, funky, musty, dirty, fart, old yoghurt, hay, citrus rind and earth. The taste is tart, earth, straw, barnyard, must, gooseberry, white grape skin, alcohol, wood, light vanilla, some acidity , lemon sherbet, alcohol and grapefruit rind with a dry finish. Medium+ body and moderate carbonation. A bit hot perhaps. Decent anyhow.

Pours a slightly hazy yellow golden color with two finger plus of tight white bubbled foam. Funky barnyard nose with undertones of tropical fruit, pineapple, spicy fieldgrass, grapefruit. Palate follows the nose nicely with a harmonious blend of barnyard funk, tropical fruit, bitter citrus pith.

C&C 750 mL bottle from Bruisin Ales, shared at a tasting. Hazy bright orange, thin creamy off-white head, good retention. Aroma of tropical fruit, bready malt, spice, herbal notes. The taste is bread, spice, trepical fruits, citrus. Thin bodied, juicy, low carbonation, tart fruits.

Bottle. moderate malt aroma of hay, heavy grass, grapefruit and lemon for the hops, heavy musty and barnyard for the yeast, with green apple, white vinegar and sulfur. Head is small, wispy, white with fair lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is murky medium amber. Flavor starts heavily acidic and sour, then finishes moderately acidic and heavily bitter. Palate is light to medium, watery with a soft to lively carbonation. and a tart finish. Tons of aromas and flavors in this sour Saison.

Yellow, with a ring of foam. Smells tart, lemony, winey with hints of oak and vanilla. Taste is lemon and grapefruit, with some mild vinegar and lemonade. Tart, dry finish. Pretty darn enjoyable...
