Collaboration with Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales: Saison brewed with mosaic and galaxy hops. Fermented and aged in oak tanks with fresh grapefruit peel, peppercorns, and fresh grapefruit juice.

Bottle shared with daknole. Good times. The beer is yellow and hazy wig a thick, white cap. Aromas of funk, hay, yeast, citrus, tangy lemon. Absolutely delicious. What a great beer. A healthy funk presence, finishing with tart citrus, a touch of spice. Lovely.

Bottle shared with huhzubendah. Pours a hazed orange with a white head. Awesome grapefruit, leathery notes, juicy, perfectly bitter, Brett is awesome in this.

Batch #1. Mai 2014. Bouteille partagée avec Ruth. Blonde plus ou moins propre avec une tête blanche pleine de ténacité. Une dentelle en morceaux est observée. Le nez est un fruit mangé par des microbes qui sucent la fibre de bois d’un foudre de chêne. Des arômes bizarres naissent du jeu des bretts sur les grains de poivre. En bouche, la concoction acide est incapable de bien souligner son fruité et, ainsi, de montrer une certaine profondeur. En bouche, le liquide exhibe un corps moyen avec une texture vineuse et des bulles petites et piquantes. La finale est assez ou trop acerbe, sans aucun doute malhabile dans sa longueur et dans son intensité. Rien à voir avec la version de JP. Son caractère acide vient considérablement ralentir sa buvabilité. Pas merveilleux mais pas détestable.

Bottle @ BBQ. Slightly hazed golden orange pour with a big white head. Good tartness and stone fruit on the nose. Peaches, melon, and some pineapple. Really funky and almost woody. Some mushroom, golden apple, and grass. Great tasting as well. Solid pineapple and tropical fruit. Sweet stone fruits and slightly tart melon. Lemon zest and moderate sourness. Mild cracker and some tannic oak. Yeast, mild spice, and some earthy funk. Solid stuff.

750 c&c from Pangaea in Sacramento, CA. Pours hazy lemony gold with a slight, transient white head. Aroma is sour, and more sweatsox than anything else. Maybe a hint of grapefruit. Maybe. Whoa! It’s med body or better, and the flavor hit is grapefruit juice. Amazing how brett (I think) can not modify grapefruit juice. This is a juicy wonder ale. It is a bit peppery, and it is a bit oaky, but it is very, very grapefruit juice. This is really drinkable!!!!!

Bottle. Pours with a murky yellow hued body with a large and resilient white head that has decent retention. Aromas are of huge tropical pineapple, acidity, funky, grapefruit, hoppy, guava juice, passionfruit, light oak, white pepper, low malt. Insanely tropical aromas! Grassy. There is a cocktail served at the Outrigger Canoe Club in Honolulu made with fresh passionfruit and fresh orange juice that smells very similar to this. Flavors are acidic, mildly bitter, grapefruit, floral with tropical notes of guava and passionfruit. A touch on the bitterside, some tannin and hop. Acidity is also just a bit on the harsh side towards the finish (I am assuming citric, but it could also be a touch acetic). Funky, crisp and clean. Medium carbonation with a dry finish. Very tasty!

nakedwhendrunk (2145) - Juneau, Alaska, USA - JUL 25, 2014
Batch #1; May 2014. This was poured into a snifter. The appearance was a nice hazy to cloudy orange color with a half fingered white foamy head that quickly subsided into a concave lacing sticking adequately to the glass. The smell, wow, okay, now I’m back on board with Anchorage. This is where it is. The grapefruit peel runs really nicely right on into a light spicy peppercorn to let in just a tad of grapefruit juice and a light lemon to mango intricately weaving itself in the aroma. The taste takes those aromas and blends them really well in and out and delicately letting my taste buds become enthralled. The sour is there but tamed, the tart is there and still tamed, yet a blessed sweetness just rolls on over and becomes one with the tart and the sour. Oh yeah, now we’re talking. On the palate, on the leaner side of light but trying to tell me there’s a slight shift to the medium, no I take that back, its closer to light and runs fairly smooth all over but still has a decent punishment of my tongue for just a tad of harshness. Overall, after tasting this I am realizing what Anchorage can do best and will say this: please stick to what you know and you know how to do the Belgian styles the best as this was an absolutely freaking awesome Saison, holy (fill in the blank) me. Hot damn! Way to knock one out of the park, Anchorage as this could just right rank up there as one of my all time favorite Saisons.

750. Really beautiful cloudy hefeweizen looking pour...like something straight out of Bavaria. Grapefruited sour nose, with a waft of funk and hay. Flavors are citrus, grapefruit, light grass, light singe of funk, and a well done peppery finish. Could be a bit louder, but other than that a great brew.

Slight aroma of grain and some wheat. Pours a golden straw. Taste is slight sour, I pick up the grapefruit. The carbonation is low.
