750 mL bottle opened at a tasting. Pours black with a thin tan head. Big sour dark fruit aroma. Sour dark fruit flavor on top of a light chocolate like body. Tart flavor lingers forever. Grape and black cherry finish. Awesome beer, and unique for sure. Not too many black belgian sours out there. Great stuff.

Pours a deep brown with ruby highlights under a thin white head. Big sour acid, soft wood. Funk, chewy malt. Big warm malt. Big and warm, roast and acid, soft and funky. Warm alcohol, roast and acid.

Bottle. Pours opaque black, small dark brown head, good lacing. Aroma is vinous, Bretty, roasty, cocoa, tobacco, oak. Flavor is light sweet, light tart, vinous red wine notes, oak, roasted malts, chocolate. Light funk with characteristic Anchorage strain Brett notes present in the background. Medium body, oily mouthfeel. Nice effort. I am a sucker for Anchorage beers.

Bottle, 2nd batch, 2014. Body nearly black, opaque, cardboard colored head fades, some lace,. Aroma is kombucha, currants, peach, raisin, currants, faint funk. Taste is dry, sour cider, peach pit, cinnamon, raisin. Finish is bitter, and sour. Palate is light, carbonation soft, but that spice feels so sharp. Alcohol very well hidden. Good, but not as good as sex machine.

Bottle-March 2013 batch #1 Pours pitch black oily with a small tean head and good lacing from the start. Nose is totally crazy-lots of funk, roast, horseblanket, char, oak, wood, lacto yeast-just crazy! Flavors are insane!!! lots of char, roast, lacto yeast, brett funk, lots of burnt notes, very sharp char, very cutting bitterness, alcohol is detected and im sort of surprised. I thought this would have faded by now. With that said, its a fantastic and complex brew! totally complex and keeps changing as it warms. With the top from this brewery if you ask me!

Bottle. Batch #1 MAR/2013. Pours dense and black. Short beige head that doesn’t last long. The nose is interesting and very complex: Sour fruit and pinot notes along with dark chocolate, light roast and blue cheese. Medium sour flavor followed by an extra dry, sour finish. The roasted malts interrupt an otherwise solid effort.

March 2013 bottle finally popped, looks almost like a Cabernet in the glass -- only with a dark brown tint and a little bit of carb on the edges.. This one really improved, we weren’t knocked out by it when it was fresher. I remember muddled flavors and something like a tire rubber note. It’s a different beer now, a year and some months later. Roasted malts on the nose with a hint of the funky and sour flavors that follow on the taste. Pinot barrel, grapes, raisin, coffee, chocolate, balsamic vinegar. Tart finish with a nice touch of balancing sweetness. Wish I’d had the foresight to stash a few more!
