3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
750ml bottle from Kingdom Liquor in Brandon. Near black pour with a thin than head. Aroma is a little acidic, chocolate, wood, dark roasted malt. Tastes are wine, oak, cocoa, caramel, light smoke, grapes. Finishes a little tinny, little bitter, little dry. Moderately sour and well balanced - albeit a strange mix of flavors. Interesting overall though.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours very dark with big foamy head. Smell more sour than it actually tastes. Really nice coffe and chocolate notes with just the right amount of sour berry coming through.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle shared by Dan. Aroma is tart elderberry, roasted coffee, and a tangy chocolate. Pours black with a chunky white head and lingering film. Tastes tangy and roasty at the same time. The result is almost a sour meat taste like a pimento loaf or italien ham. Nice tart and roast linger. Very enjoyable sour stout.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Proof. Black pour with a creamy brown head. Aroma is thick chocolate, roasted malts, dessert wine, oak, lactic acid and sourdough yeast. Chocolate on the tip of the tongue followed by Pinot Noir oak barrel, lactic acid, lemon peels and sourdough. Smooth carbonation with a tart finish and a touch of alcohol. Not too shabby.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Aroma is very dry, yeasty and really earthy. Appearance is the deepest of browns with a tan head. Taste is very much like a sour red wine. The blend of yeasts is considerably less tart than what I was expecting.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle shared thanks to kantrauch! Batch #1 mar2013; pours a translucent black brown with thin ring of brown lacy head. Aroma of chocolate, dark fruit and roast. Taste is funk up front, wine middle, and a sweet chocolate finish. Well yeah, a Flemish red mixed with stout, but awesome!

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Rich, deep dark brown body with a light brown and ruby tint when held up to a light, and a good two centimetre tall deep brown head. Aroma of sour cherries, milk, roasted malt, alcohol, oak, vanilla, brett, yeast, hay, grass and even some light hops - very nice and complex nose. Medium-bodied; Assertive roasty flavours up front with coffee and chocolate noticeable, with quite a bit of brett and sour notes right afterwards, with a deep wine flavour, some oak and alcohol and a hint of bourbon and whiskey noticeable at the very end. Aftertaste shows a good blend of sour, roasty, alcohol, earthy, peaty and sweet flavours - with perhaps the roasty and oaky coming out the strongest, and even those lingering hints of milk more than the others - very interesting. Overall, a good beer, and well worth trying if you like stouts, porters and/or sours - this is a good mix and very neat to try. I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased from Brown Jug in Anchorage (Northern Lights Blvd) on 22-May-2013 for US$10.99 sampled at home in Washington on the other side of this great nation, a day after returning from Anchorage again. I didn’t keep this too long:
