Maybe a bit too funky for my taste. I guess it was bound to happen. Brett, lacto, and pedio. Oh my!

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle, Thx Axnjxn! This was really nice. Excellent balance of roast, and funk. Really enjoyed. Lots of cherry, wood, and other funky notes. A bit of pinot noir too. One of the better sour stouts/porters/black beers I have had in a while. yum.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours dark brown with a tan head and light sour, tart, oak aroma. Taste is oaky up front, with wine notes, sour and tartness, with dark fruits leading into the long, strong oaky, pinot noir finish.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber sugared with Z, in honor of William Haynes, pours a dark black color with ephemeral java head. Nose is fruity and take on a bittersweet tangy aroma. Nose is sweet, and fruity with the oak and pinot easily appreciated. Finish is sour and ends on the oaky pinot notes. Quaff Score 7 / 10

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pre-DLD bottle share at Hampton Inn. Pour is dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma and flavor of toasted oat, dark caramel, cocoa powder, oak, and roasted malt. Finish is where the brett shines through.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Batch 1 (March 2013) Pitch black pour, decent tan head that dissipates. Nose is strong lemony acidity and ripe black cherry. Flavor up front is big cherry/Pinot, well balanced acidity, touch of vinegar, middle fades to vanilla-y oak, spice, flashes of mild nuttiness, and slight roastyness on a dry finish. Great structure and spritzy mouthfeel thanks to oaky mid palate and lively carbo. I’ve never had anything quite like this...stupid awesome as usual from anchorage.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
One year old. Black with a bit of cherry aroma. Nicely drinkable, alcohol warming. Moderate sour. Well put together.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
750ml bottle a bit of a gusher but not an issue - pours a deep chestnut brown with an off white head. I get a lot of fruity Pinot notes both on the nose and palate. Oak, fig, leather, combined with a perfect tartness, nice carbonation, medium bodied, more Pinot notes, freaking delicious.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Shared from a year old 750ml bottle. Looks like a stout, dark nearly opaque, with a foamy chocolate, mocha head. Smells like berries, chocolate, coffee, pinot and funk. This is a sipper, for an 8.5% sour it drinks pretty thick and the alcohol is present. Flavors of mocha, deep pinot and wine barrels, chocolate, espresso, figs, dates, plums and a touch of charcoal smoke and some sour funk at the end. The carbonation is on the lower side, but adds a nice touch to this incredibly complex beer. This is the first aged Anchorage beer I’ve enjoyed. So delicious, so unique, so complex- I would drink this thing now, it has aged beautifully and I can’t see it getting better. Perfect balance of fresh flavors and aged sour funk.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: FEB 15, 2015 Bottle poured into tulip during #bottlecherwednesday at Beachwood Seal Beach. Opaque and very dark brown body, a half finger of tan head with high retention that eventually settles to a ring and islands. Aroma is citrus tartness, wine barrel wood, roasted malt, some coffee, and a touch of earthy funk. Taste is initially light sweetness with burnt sugar and molasses, then comes the sour: citrus and apple skin, some bitter roasty notes on the finish. Medium body, thick but smooth texture, moderate-plus carbonation, slightly sour dry puckering finish. A lot going on in this beer!
