Bottle from Shawan Liquors. Pours golden with a thin head. Big oak notes on the nose. I definitely get some of the sourness from the Brett but also some hop flavor on the tongue. Finishes clean without much alcohol burn. Very nice.

Hazy, orange-y pale brown color. Large head. Aroma is pine, seville oranges, goose berries, elder berries and dried fruit. Flavour is really bitter and has notes of orange peels, citrus, pine, seville oranges and resin. The bitterness seems to last forever. A wonderful beer!

750 ml bottle thanks to lukaduke. Pours a pale, hazy straw color with a white head of foam. Decent retention. The aroma has really nice brett character. Juicy, floral, estery, just the way I like my belgian IPAs. Taste is sweet and dry with a hint at some bitterness toward the finish, but it’s very balanced. Really enjoyed this beer.

750 ml bottle bought @ bierkompass.de. Pours hazy golden with a big frothy and slightly fizzy goldenish white head that is rather quick to dissipate while leaving some lacing and trace on the glass. Smell is fruity and funky with crackers, pineapple, papaya, mango, freshly cut grass, dry wood, pink grapefruit juice, white grapes, brett, dry soil, lemon zest, cilantro, barnyard, dried apricots, white pepper corns, gooseberries and passionfruit. Taste is bitter, fruity and funky with crackers, pink grapefruit juice, dry soil, dry wood, grapefruit rinds, lemon zest, orange zest, white grapes, brett, mango, pineapple, tropical fruit hard candy, barnyard, papaya, freshly cut grass, pine needles, white pepper corns, gooseberries, passionfruit, dried apricots, canned peaches in syrup, chardonnay wine, white bread and hints of alcohol. Mouthfeel is slightly crisp, slightly dry, slightly round, tiny boozy, tiny astringent and medium bodied. Finish is bitter, fruity, herbal and funky with crackers, pineapple, grapefruit rinds, dried apricots, peaches, papaya, lemon zest, chardonnay wine, lemon balm, thai basil, freshly cut grass and pine needles. Amazing as always!

75cl bottle. It pours hazy pale yellow with a huge soapy white head. Big loud pop but not a gusher. Aroma is hops, citrus, orange peel, brett, funk, black pepper, violets, white wine. Great. Taste is nothing less, with a great complexity and yet refreshing. White wine, oak, hops, citrus peel, orange zest, flowery and peppery, brett and funk, farmhouse character. Outstanding. Just a tad of alcohol in the end as it warms up. Medium mouthfeel with lively carbonation. Overall, distinct, complex, refreshing. Very similar to the Galaxy White IPA I have to say, and I would probably choose the other one if I had to just for the lower ABV. But this is no less than world class.

This is a great a Belgian-style DIPA. It pours yellow gold and quite hazy. Thick white head, a heavy blanket of foam. Lots of tropical fruit flavored hops in the aroma. It’s big on pineapple, mango, guava, raspberry and tangerine. Just a mouth-watering fruitiness. The brett funk blends in nicely, contributing some funk and probably helping some of the fruit aroma. Some earthier tones are also in there. The taste is relatively dry with a mild to medium bitter finish. That said, there’s still some nice light malt sweetness, which allows the hop flavors to shine. Feel is soft and light. There’s some prickle from the hops, but it’s still a smooth rich beer. Bitter Monk is another excellent beer from Anchorage, which is quickly becoming one of my favorite breweries.
