UPDATED: JAN 15, 2014 Hazy yellow color, very lively pour, tons of head but it disappears quickly. Nice sweet and sour aroma, peach, oak, light hoppiness, light funk. Flavor has more bitterness, white ale spiciness, oak. Unique.

Bomber from Ale Yeah in Roswell, Ga-----> tulip. Pours lighter than straw yellow with fluffy white head and good retention and lacing. Aroma is heavy funk and lemon zest. Taste is funky champagne with muted citrus hops at the end.Palate is super lively and the carbonation is insane. This one tastes 98% saison and 2% IPA, but whatever, I love saisons.

Bottle at bona pinta shared with Bernat. Pours pale hazy yellow with a billowing white head. Brett dominates the aroma, funky, not much else going on. Same with the taste, all brett. Slightly sour and quite fizzy. Very nice despite being a bit one dimentional

750ml bottle from Binnyís Lakeview. Batch #2, April 2012. Pours a lightly hazed, pale yellow colored body with a billowing, three finger-width, soft and foamy, white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is awesome. Plenty of brett with some funk accompanied by a nice citrus zest and tropical fruitiness. Lemon, peach, pineapple, and melon fruits with plenty of florals, some grass, a light wood, and some dry leather. A subtle, bready malt backing with a light wheat note as well as a touch of peppercorn and a few phenol notes. Flavor is similar with a pretty firm bitterness. Peppery and slightly woody up front with a bunch of brett, floral hops, and grass. A nice melon, lemon citrus, and tropical fruitiness in the middle with slightly bready pale malts and a touch of wheat. Light phenols, coriander, and peppercorn towards the end where some wood, dry leather, funky brett, and grassy hops completely dry this out with a light zesty lemon and a higher bitterness. Lengthy aftertaste with the wheat and coriander sticking out a bit with the citrus zest and brett following a light body and a soft, lively carbonation. Overall, this is an awesome beer with the brett yeast very well integrated with the fruity, bitter hops. Dry, crisp, and complex with a great bouquet of an aroma. Loved this one.

Draft. Hazy yellow white pour, with a white head. Moderately hoppy, herbal, citrus, strong lemon zest, funky yeast, green apple, cereal/grain malt, peppery, oak, white wine, and dusty earth. Quite enjoyable, lots going on here, maybe to much. But still fairly light and drinkable.

Bottle. Head is initially huge, fizzy/frothy, white, mostly lasting. Body is hazy light yellow. Aroma is moderately malty (toasted grain), moderately hoppy (flowers, herbs, grass, resin), lightly to moderately yeasty (cobwebs, barnyard), with a strong note of lemon zest, other notes of pepper, band-aid, sour apple, sage. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately to heavily bitter. Medium body, watery texture, fizzy/lively carbonation, lively alcoholic. As with Bitter Monk and Love Buzz, this brewer is kind of difficult to rate. The feeling I keep getting is one of missed opportunities. Love Buzz could have been 4+ quality if heíd toned down the alcohol and hops (and left out the spices). This guy has brewing skills without a doubt, but the end results are always a bit of a mixed bag, like a cook that uses too many ingredients but still ends up with a reasonably enjoyable concoction. I think heís held back only by his lack of focus with any recipe...and this is a terrific example of that problem: lots of hops, barrel aging, Brettanomyces, fruit, spices...itís a mess, honestly. A pretty good mess, yes, but still a mess.

In short: A funky banana bread with dry oak and citrusy hops. Fantastic beer by AnchorageÖ again
How: Bottle 750ml. Consumed fresh a few weeks after purchase
The look: Cloudy yellow-blonde body topped by a medium white head leaving lots of lacings on the glass
In long: Nose has a big bold funk with citrus and tropical fruits hops and banana esters. The funk here was very Jolly Pumpkin-ish, more so than with previous Anchorage offerings. Taste is just that. A whole lot funk, and then more funk, banana bread, notes of woody white wine, mangos, white grapefruits. Dry woody finish with a mild bitterness. Nourishing body, a bomb of funk, a complexity that is hard to put into words, another kick-ass beer from Anchorage. Jolly pumpkin has competition of their throne of king of American funky beers. I really love this Anchorage, and Iím certain when this brewery is making their main goal is to please me, and that makes me wonder what the world would revolve around if I didnít exist.

Gorgeous, thick blonde pour. The aroma is a medley of everything expected in proper proportions; citrus, peppercorns, green spice, and leafy hops. Brett becomes obvious in a big pineapple tang that doesnít really show sourness yet, and thereís a substantive white wine oak character that serves to smooth everything over. Also like the way the zesty greenness of the hops kind of dances around, hard to follow.

Ripe wheat and hops flavor, highlighted by clove, white tea, and green herbs. The wine yeast constantly seems to surround things here, and the brett is of course laid back; as such the flavor of this right now is a lovely depiction of hops, wheat, and oak/wine in quiet harmony. When the brett comes roaring out it will surely be fabulous in a new way, but the flavor now is something to seek out. Itís pungent, and mysterious, but approachable.

Creamy palate with bite. Thereís a pungency in the finish that reminds me of what Bam Biere used to taste like. Coriander, and a certain bitter-saltiness. Thereís so much going on here and because itís all somewhat predictable, this is less than enchanting. Still, yes, itís great.

Cloudy golden-yellow with very frothy white head. Beautiful fresh of the vine hop aroma. Big grapefruit flavor with ginger, butter, pepper and coriander followed by the crisp dry hops . Iím not picking up the sour that I thought would be there with Brett.
