Bottle into a goblet. Pours hazy gold with a persistent, light and foamy white head. Spicy, bready, lightly tart aroma. Taste is bready, very pleasantly tart, perfect amount of brett funk. Very noticeable barrel characteristics, from fruit to oak. Nice crisp, dry finish. Easy drinking, very refreshing.

12/12/10/12/11/12

750ml bottle that I shared with my friend, Keelan. These Anchorage beers aren’t cheap but if the rest are like this one, I am up for moer. Orange-yellow color, small but visible head and a bit of lace. The nose is really incredible in how intriguing it is. I knew right away I liked it but I just have to keep inhaling away to try and figure out what I smell. This beer sets the standard for complex aromas. Its sort of perfume, candy, a touch of brett hiding in the back, slightly earthy, slight touch of alcohol. After reading the bottle it came to me. It’s the rose hips. The taste is pretty damn crazy too, funky with sweet, sour, and bitter all in equal portions. Unique. Surprisingly pleasant. This one is fit for a very special occasion.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2013. This is a light blurry deep golden one with a small just off-white top. Fantastic aroma on this one. It’s really fresh, lots of citrus, small white berries, and raspberries? Tart bretted raspberries. Lovely aroma. Lots of brett and subtle acidity in the flavor. The tart raspberries has been replaced with white or even green gooseberries. The brett is dancing on the tongue. Zesty and acidic finish and aftertaste. A really refreshing one. Want more. 04.05.2013

This beer blew me away. Tons of flavour - some funk, red wine barrels are apparent, spice, fruit. Alcohol is well hidden. Another winner from Anchorage.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a cloudy maize color with a soapy white head with great lacing. Yeast, barnyard funk, wood, and wine aroma. Batch #1, but still a bit hot. Citrus, yeast, funk, and pepper flavor. Touch of sour, but very subtle. Very nice!

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Aroma has huge amounts of pineapple, but also some light pepper, coriander and clove phenolics. There is also a bit of a spicy floral aroma. Light fruity esters along with low oak notes.
Pours a cloudy, dark golden orange with a big, faintly off white, pillowy head with moderate retention. Lacing is moderate and legs small.
Flavor has a hint of sweet malt left to it, but it is otherwise Brett, phenolics and oak. The pineapple is in the flavor but not as dominant as the aroma. Nice phenolic notes with pepper, clove and an herbal, floral note. You can taste the high mineral content of the water which accentuates the moderate bitterness. Lingering spice in the finish. The finish also has a real floral quality to it. Only light oak and tannins present as the flavor is dominated by phenolics and a floral note.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low acidic astringency with medium low alcohol warmth.
Overall a very nice beer but the time has taken away some of the character that I am sure was present like the orange peel. The grapefruit has really come out though in the aroma as this beer develops more Brett character. Not as much wine influence as I would have expected.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 ml bottle I’ve had for a while. First batch to hit St. Louis, whichever and whenever that was. Pours a cloudy orange with a deep pinkish highlight, making it look like a blood orange wheat beer, with a huge eggshell white head that settles into a thin, creamy, long-lasting cap. Aroma of grapefruit and orange citrus, bretty funk, oak, wine, plenty of strong florals, spices, and sweet malts. The flavor starts and finishes with abundant floral notes, with grapefruit, oak, bretty funk, stone fruit, spices, and some sweet and bready malts. But the florals and grapefruit dominate here. Long, lingering bitterness from those two. Medium-bodied, with medium carbonation. Very good, but honestly didn’t quite meet my exceedingly high expectations based on the Anchorage beers I’ve had so far, and the ratings on this one so far.
