4.2 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
One of my favorites! Poured cloudy orange yellow with a lingering white head. Brett overpowers the nose. Very crisp beer with spicy undertones and funkiness from the Brett an omy es finishing a little bitter.

750ml bottle pours an orangey color with a lot of frothy head. Mild sourness and wild yeast flavor. The wine barrel adds some additional complexity.

Bottle from City Beer San Fran. Pours hazy golden with firm white head. Aroma is floral, grassy, some citrus and a definite vinous tone. Taste shows citrus, yeast, floral and some grassy notes. Lovely complex beer.

Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate-heavy floral notes, light grass, citrus, and a touch of vinous notes. It pours a hazy burnt orange with a small white head that quickly fades to a thin ring around the edges of the glass. The flavor starts with moderate citrus with a touch of Belgian yeast. The finish has moderate floral notes, orange peel, grass, and lemon peel. Itís light-medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
"next to Bitter Monk, comes in a little lacking. a little brett in the aroma and flavor. the rose, fruit and malt only comes through close to room temp. it ends up good, but a little confused...not nearly as funky as there other brews, but enough to make it not stand out as a saison either. that said, still enjoyable, but probably a one timer at the price. Originally scored a 3.5 8+ months ago...NEVER have I had a beer that has improved so much with age. Way more funky, more what I was hoping it would be right away as the only bottled Anchorage beer Iíve seen in Pinot barrels as opposed to Chardonnay. Fantastic. Would be in the lo 4ís now...average 3.8?"

UPDATED: NOV 9, 2014 P: Deep amber with a head that does last very long. S: Starts of with a bit hops but gets dominated by roses, wine and a bit of brett. T: A bit of roses, wine, a bit of citrus. Medium body and medium carbonation. O: Great beer with lots of flavors that play well with each other.

I was a little let down by this one, to be honest, considering the hype. I think the alcohol is a bit too high, which compromises a bit of the freshness and brightness this could have. I prefered their Rondy Brew, since it was drier, and brighter, as saisons should be.
Itís everything you would expect from Anchorage: lots of funk in the nose, moderate tartness, subtle malt base, prominent carbonation.
This is an excellent beer. Thereís just better ones out there.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
This bottle was dated "Batch 3, July 2014."
This was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a ruddy orange to brown color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about less than a minute. Semi-thick but lightly coating the sides of the glass is an ample amount of lacing.
The smell was quite floral with a bitter to sour lemon to orange aroma that was quite invasive.
The taste was bitter, tart and sour and semi - dry and vinous all around.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionability about it. For a saison, the carbonation seemed appropriate for the style. Despite having a semi-floral aftertaste, the finish is so dry - wow, its dry.
Overall, honestly, I really donít see whatís so special about this beer. Its just another vinous sour saison. I probably wouldnít get this again.

Great beer, totally unique sour, lots of grape or vinous fruit character. Strong taste of rose hips, and a strong yet subtle Brett bite at the finish combined with some oak. Triple fermentation is evident in the layered smoothness.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle, La Bodega, Anchorage. Dull amber. Not much head, but also no cork pop, which is odd for a brett beer. The aroma has abundant fruity brett, and the rosehips and peppercorns seem to come out as well. Good complex aroma. The palate is bitter, with some yeastiness. Lots of rosehips and vinous fruits. Finishes dry, touch yeasty, a little bretty and with a fairly strong woody influence as well. A complex, artistic beer. I suspect this beer will evolve quite a bit in the first year of its life, so would make for a fun study.
