4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle at Spuyten Duyvil. Caramel brown color with a creamy tan head. Great head retention. Hints of brown sugar, caramel, currant, raisin, chocolate, molasses and coffee. Very pleasant and creamy taste. The caramel and currant worked very well together and intensified as it went down. Awesome beer. I wish it were more avaliable in the states.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This is such a good beer. Pours a very dark amber with little head from the bottle. Has a malty, deep, sweet smell. Immediately sweet and spicy on the tongue with a bit of carbonation. Almost a raisiny flavor and a touch of cinnamon. Not a thick beer which makes it quite an easy drinker despite its alcohol rating. Not much of an aftertaste. I cellared this for about 2 1/2 years and it is fantastic.

Pours clear mahogany into a stem glass. Tan head with medium retention recedes to skim surface. Caramel and pit fruit aromas. Sweet pit fruit, toffee and grain upfront turning dry in the medium length finish.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark brown with red highlights and a light brown head. Malty aroma with some sweet, dark, dried fruit notes. Big dark malt flavor, not as sweet as the aroma would lead you to believe. Short malty-earthy finish. Very nice dopplebock.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at Gollem Proeflokaal. Beautiful port colored deep red pour with a clean slab of off white foam. Aroma of ripe berries, quite fruity, strawberry and cherry, very light caramel notes. Taste is sweet, fruity, rich caramelized malt flavors, intense caramelization, just a touch of alcohol in the finish. Palate is very full bodied, rich with medium carbonation. Very nice.

Good doppelbock with full-bodied and fruity malt and medium aftertaste. Perform its function during cold winter nights.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Serving: Bottle from State Line Liquors. It pours a dark brown color with nice ruby highlights. Grainy nose with notes of caramel. The flavor has a slight metallic note up front that thankfully fades quickly. More grain and a pronounced caramel note pair with a slight white raisin taste. Fairly clean finish. Good.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bought a bottle at Bert’s Bierhuis. The beer has a dark brown color and a nice cream colored head, CO2 level is good. In the aroma tones of roasted malts, dried fruits and a little caramel. The taste is pleasantly malty and strong - a powerfull robust body. Also at the same time you can taste the sweetness of the beer, roasted cocoa and a medium bitter hoppiness. This is all together well balanced. Concluding with a powerful punch, this Doppelbock departs with a lingering aftertaste of quality plain chocolate. Conclusion: a really nice doppelbock, which is worth repeating.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
500ml bottle. Dark brownish amber. A big head eventually recedes to nothing. Very nice aroma with liquorice, toffee and bonfire notes standing out. Taste isn’t quite as good as the aroma. Lots of cold coffee, toasted grain, earth and caramel. Good stuff but I was hoping for something more cohesive.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
500ml bottle shared with jeevan - Cheers! Pours a lovely reddish brown, but no head. Aromas are all toffee malt and nuts, light fruitiness. Taste has all kinds of malt-sweet, but not much else. Traditional, drinkable. OK.

500 ml bottle. Dark reddish brown. Clear. Tall light beige head. Peppery nose with dark toffee. Hints of pumpernickel and dark chocolate. Very complex with a lovely malty flavour. Soft texture with a lot of things to chew on. Dry, but rich. A very nice doppelbock.
