COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is it! The powerful, full-bodied, strong beer which is Andechs's trademark. Brewed in the traditional Triple Mash procedure and available throughout the year, not just during the "Starkbierzeit"!

Pours a deep mahogany/brown, bit of tannish foam that dissipates quickly. Odor is a bit sweet and cloying, as is the initial taste. Seriously, not sure what the big deal is, I’ve had much better DB’s than this one.

Bottle bought from München. Blood red beer with a frothy beige, first huge then dissapearing, head. Points given by the look after pouring the bottle to the glass. Sweet caramel malty aroma has a bit alcohol too. Flavour is sweet caramel malts and some roast. Full bodied and oily mouthfeel. Really good!

Bottle:   Ruby brown in color, thin to moderate sudsy sandy head, spotty lacing.   Strong bready aroma.   Seems pretty simple, which somewhat baffles me given its stature.   Smooth maltiness up front.   Soft dark pitted fruit, but mainly a strong bready component you would expect from a Doppelbock.   Breadiness lingers from front to back, with only a minor emphasis on dark pitted fruit.   While smooth, body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Good, well crafted, and very solid, but this one just seems so ordinary in my book.   Perhaps its the fact I am not having it at the source thats a problem, but the bottled version likely does not do it justice.   Good, but I have had many other examples that were more interesting.   Good, but unsure why its at the top.   I expected much more depth with this one.

Bottle acquired through an amazing trade with Homer321! Have wanted to try this one for a significant amount of time and excited I was able to experience it. Deep copper pour with an tightly packed eggshell head. This one is filled by dark fruit, raisin, prune, fig, caramel, toffee, honey, and molasses. Medium mouthfeel...not heavily carbonated but not terribly syrupy either. Love the balance. Really nice brew!

Color rojizo caramelizado, espuma beige clara, densa y muy bien formada. Aromas dulces y caramelo. En boca muestra ese mismo carácter con un final alcóholico equilibrado, nada molesto. Textura ligera, muy fácil de beber. En mi opinión, una gran doppelbock.

Pours dark copper color with a medium head. Aroma is sweet with caramelly and chocolaty malts, some ripe fruits, syrup, sugary notes and yeast. Flavor of caramel malts, licorice, syrup, ripe fruits and yeast. Very good.

Bottle sample at a tasting at the new Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks Yoav. Cloudy dark brown with tan ring. Raisins, malty and a little alcoholic aroma. Tastes malty and sweet, slightly grainy and roasty. Full body, slightly carbonated, long, malty finish. Tasty and decent.

Bottle from a friend. Smell of malt and caramel. Similar taste with a wortlike character. Very sweet and malty.

Pours deep mahogany with a medium tan head. Smells of caramel and dark fruits with a subtle hint of earthy hops. Taste is caramel and toffee, hints of chocolate, slight hints of grass, dark fruits, incredibly well crafted flavor profile. Full-bodied with a slick, smooth texture and soft mouth-carbonation, Aandechser Doppelbock Dunkel finishes with a lingering sweetness that is not syrupy, to my surprise, and has a slight pumpernickel hint.
