Ungstrup (10776), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 5, 2003 A deep red beer with a small fast disappearing head. It has a very sweet aroma with notes of alcohol and rowan berries. It has a very powerful bock taste with lots of sweetness, rowan berries, and notes of alcohol. But it is a little flat. It has a good palate. It's very much like Carlsberg now discontiued Semper Ardens Bock. omhper (9937), Stockholm, Sweden Jan 21, 2002 An outstanding doppelbock. Delicious, big maltiness, loads of flavours, perfectly balanced. The Andechs cloister itself is well worth a visit, but a bit dangerous if you walk up the hill on a hot summer’s day and then try to cure your thirst with doppelbock... Papsoe (9637), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 31, 2005 (Bottle 50 cl) Dark brown (almost cola-flavoured) with a huge, neat and lightly brownish head. Wonderful nutty nose and immensely full and malty aromas. Has some of the same flavour-patterns as Belgian trappists - although a higher bitterness. A great bock indeed. 201099 Oakes (6771), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jun 23, 2000 Updated: Jul 16, 2005Bright golden-brown colour. Huge, very fresh malt aroma. Long, clean, toasty malts. A touch thin (gasp!), perhaps metallic but not bad. Not as good as it was before...I need to find this more often for re-rates. joergen (6130), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 17, 2005 Draught at Ølbaren.
Clear brown coloured with a small beige head.
Sweet aroma of dark bread and dried fruit.
Flavour of dried fruit, coffee and dark bread.
