jmm1 (107), Andorra Aug 14, 2008 From bottle. Oak brown clear body with a big beige head leaving a good lacing. Roasted malts nose with sherry-like tones and a slight smokiness. Caramelly in mouth, with some wallnuts and prunes kicking in the middle. Slightly hoppy finish but with nearly no bitter aftertaste. Heavy and round texture with medium carbonation gives all its power to this brew. A dunkel which is indeed the small and lighter brother of the Andechser Doppelbock without giving up much of its substance and success. DerWeg (403), Tronna, Ontario, Canada Aug 9, 2008 500ml bottle shop Volksdorf near Hamburg. (Scored a Luitpold hefe glass yeah!) Toffee and slightly biting malt profile, good mostly clean malt aroma with just a whiff of funk. Pretty hefty Dunkel, almost a Bock. Pretty great. DSG (843), Yuvalim, Israel Aug 8, 2008 (6/21/08) Draught at the Leipziger Bierbörse festival in Leipzig. Clear dark amber with a small beige head. Aroma of toasted malt and some caramel. Sweet flavor of toasted malt and caramel. Finishes on a bitter note. Medium-bodied. Immy (1555), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Aug 7, 2008 Draft at Andechser am Dom. Clear, deep, dark amber - like root beer - with a big beige head. Deeply malty nose, some fruitiness. Roasty malt flavors, a whiff of smoke, almost a meaty quality - sweet, smoky meat. Amazing lace rings. Everyone should try this on draft! Excellent! faroeviking (4134), Faroese Beer Republic über, Denmark Aug 6, 2008 Botella. Clear bit thin dark brown colour with a short lasting fizzy light brown head. Sweet caramellic toasty malty aroma with a little smoke. Rather thin mouthfeel. The flavour has a good toasty maltiness with bitter hops, caramel along with a little smoke and chocolate. Good but too thin.
