Bottled. Quite reddish for a dunkel but otherwise mostly brown. The aroma is dusty chocolate with sweet caramel notes and malty fruits. The taste is full-bodied; sweet and smoky with lots of fruity malts and brown bread. A very nice dunkel which is to be expected when you consider how good the Doppelbock is. World class in its field.

This comes my way thanks to Madsberg!
A light brown creamy head topped this marvelous brew. The head lasted all the way so I had to look through the side of the glass to see the sparkling clear body of mahogany brown with ruby edges.
Heavy, malty aroma with bread and toast coming through.
The flavor was lightly sweet and delivered with a creamy softness. Very enjoyable Dunkel.

Malty sweet aroma. Nice creamy brown head, dark brown color. Taste is malty, light sweet, fresh. Notes of burnt malt, especially in the dry bitter aftertaste. Not bad, but not my cup of tea.

Tap. Good deep amber to slightly brown and pretty clear. Good lasting head although small. Aroma is sweet and malty from munich malts. No hops in the aroma but they come out slightly in the flavor it balance it out. Seems a slight bit fuller in body that many other dunkels despite its average abv. Good all around dunkel.

Bottle. Sweet dark chocolate malt aroma with hints of hops and ester. Dark amber color with small head. Sweet malt initially with tart-estery finish. Moderate body. Closer in flavor to a bock than most dunkels

Dark amber colour. Good mix of fruit and malt in the aroma, very fresh taste for a Dunkel - I found a lot of apple in the flavour. Refreshing, if a bit thin.

Strongly nutty aroma. Amber colored with little beige head. Rich aroma with roasted malt and some chocolate too, excellent one. Flavor has also strong nutty tone, roasted coffee comes up later. Medium bodied with some carbonation, finely balanced dunkel.

Tap, at Café Abseits in Bamberg. Deep chestnut red, thin white head and moderate condition. Sweet and malty aroma with traces of roast barley. Sweet and full in the mouth with plenty of malt and some low roast barley, almost bordering on a barley wine at times. Sweet lingering malt with some solid hop bitterness in the finish.
