COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A product of traditional multiple mashing, Andechser Vollbier Hell presents a bright straw yellow and clear gleaming look that cannot fail to fascinate. Its head is firm and fine pored. Its aroma is pure and fresh from the cellar, with soft malty accents imbued with floral hoppiness. Its light and soft body leaves a pleasant, tangy taste in the mouth. The mild sweetness marries well with the velvety bitterness of the hops. It concludes on a rounded, harmonious note. Andechser Vollbier Hell is therefore a classical Bavarian Vollbier (11.5% original extract and 4.8% alcohol by volume).

From the 500 ml. bottle stamped L-2014, So I don;t know if that means it is two years old. Pale yellow pour with quick lasting white fizzy head. Toasted German malts on the nose with grass too. The body is light to medium. The taste has a nice enough sweet German toasted malt presence with a clean, crisp finish, Pretty basic but easy to drink.

Bottle shared at home. Straw yellow colour head disappears immediately. Light, refreshing bitter beer.

Went to Andechs some years ago. Loved the Doppelbock. Found the Vollbier Hell at Bay Ridge Wine and Liquors in Annapolis, MD and ultimately bought a case. It’s everything I like: good sudsy sweet German lager, reminds me of my visits to Germany when I looked forward to diving into a untried lager at the end of the day. I’ve gotten several cases since. This is all about German bier.

Hell-a-good ez a bier, már az üveg tapintása is olyan, hogy azonnal inni kell, különben.... különben mi? pontosan.

I do not wax on poetically about beer but I do know the quality of a beer once tasted. This review is not about my tastes but reinforces the numbers, which are arbitrary.

Clear, light golden with a fine head. Subtle aroma of hay, grass and some floral notes. Well-balanced taste. Not as good as expected.

The aroma is bread, grass The appearance is clear golden yellow, white head. The flavor is malty, grass, bready. The finish is grassy, spicy, German noble hops medium in body. Uninteresting, but competently brewed.

Pour is a pale gold with a large white head. Aroma is a nice and bready wet dough with some fresh cut hay. Flavor is clean and adjunct free with the dry pale malt, a touch of bitter hops and a nourishing quality. Very thirst quenching as well. At the source this beer is probably a amazing example of the style. It’s still pretty decent after making the journey here.

Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours a clear straw golden color with a one finger head of fizzy white foam. The head has a lighter level retention, fading rather fast to leave a light level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass. Smell –The aroma of the beer was strongest of a bready smell mixed with a bit of a yeastiness. Along with these aromas comes some light notes of floral hops and a little bit of a biscuit smell. Taste – The taste begins with a more bready and yeasty flavor, with these flavors creating a base for the brew. As the taste moves on some notes of grain and a little bit of a floral and grassy hop come to the tongue. The hop grows slightly stronger, but remains relatively light, to leave a crisp, but sorta bready taste (at least for a 4.8% abv. beer) to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is average in terms of both its thickness and its creaminess. The moderate nature of the mouthfeel is perfect for the mix of bready and yeasty tastes along side the more moderate sessionable style of the beer. Overall - This was a rather easy drinking and flavorful beer at 4.8% abv. A very nice summer time session I would have to say.
