A product of traditional multiple mashing, Andechser Vollbier Hell presents a bright straw yellow and clear gleaming look that cannot fail to fascinate. Its head is firm and fine pored. Its aroma is pure and fresh from the cellar, with soft malty accents imbued with floral hoppiness. Its light and soft body leaves a pleasant, tangy taste in the mouth. The mild sweetness marries well with the velvety bitterness of the hops. It concludes on a rounded, harmonious note. Andechser Vollbier Hell is therefore a classical Bavarian Vollbier (11.5% original extract and 4.8% alcohol by volume).

Bottle. Pours a clear pale straw yellow body under a nice frothy white head that had decent retention. The nose is clean bready and crackery maltiness with a light floral hoppiness. A nice delicate doughy maltiness. The flavor is clean and crisp but still quite soft and delicate. Surprised that this is completely filtered, it’s so so soft and well rounded even in this state of filtration. The hops could maybe be a bit brighter, but they’re still pretty nice. There’s a code on the bottle that must indicate it’s age, but ’L1693’ doesn’t mean anything to me. Very soft and well rounded on the palate with gentle soft carbonation. Really nice beer.

Clear pale with white head. Corn in the noise. Crisp light, a bit cloying on corn flavor. Malt profile a bit lighter than I hoped.

Bottled. Pale gold. Straw and grassy notes. Pretty decent helles, nothing unusual here.

UPDATED: MAY 26, 2014 500 ML bottle. Nice grassy taste. Light head and tight mouthfeel. A solid, rustic Vollbier Hell. You could drink a few of these consecutively.

Pours a clear golden with a big white head. Sweet malty nose with hay and cereal. Flavor is medium sweet and slightly floral. Finishes relatively abruptly, but has the right amount of hop bitter to balance the sweetness. Full bodied with average carbonation. Overall, a decent helles lager, though not as good as the Andechs Special Hell.

Lager da manuale, leggera e non spiace e da bere, con una luppolatura erbacea che lascia un leggero amaro sul finale, ben maltata.

Aroma of malts and grass. Flavour is malty, light sweetness, some bitterness in the finish. A decent Helles, but not one of the better beers from this brewery.
