0.5L bottle. Pours clear pale with a frothy white head with minimal lacing. Clean malt aromas dominate, grass and cereal grains. Fairly strong sulfur also coming through, as well as herby hops. Mild cereal grain sweetness at the beginning, giving way to herby hop flavor, which morphs into a long, herbby hop linger. Medium body with a slick mouthfeel and average carbonation. Overall, a nice helles lager with good grain and hop character. A beer to keep around for when guests come!

Süßliches Aroma, leicht florale Noten, ein ganz kleines Bisschen Hopfen. Sehr ausgewogener Geschmack, milder Hopfen, nicht zu bitter. Nett für Zwischendurch.

Malty, grassy aroma with nice hints of hops. Wet hop cones in mouth, some florals, herbs and bread peel. Pleasant bitter finish.

UPDATED: SEP 17, 2014 Bottle 50cl. Clear medium golden color, one finger frothy white head, recedes slowly to a thin layer, fair lacing; aroma sweet malty, grain, hay, yeasty; taste is moderate sweet and light bitter; medium body, oily texture, bit spicy on the tongue, soft carbonation; slightly more bitterness in the aftertaste, abrupt finish. OK helles though it lacks some character. Rerated 140917, slightly lower score (was 3.2).

Tap at GBBF ’14. Golden, clear, with the biggest white head I’ve ever seen. Almost no aroma. A bit of wheat and lemon typical of German lagers but that’s all. The taste is also slight. A gentle sweetness throughout, although there is the slightest touch of jarring bitter/sourness. The carbonation adds mouthfeel to the weak palette. Not bad, but surprisingly lacking in character. Shame.

Bottle from Gourmondo.de. Golden beer with white head. Aroma has malts, butter, hops and hay. Flavour is malty, quite sweet with hay and butter. Soft and a bit oily mouthfeel. Very good helles.

UPDATED: NOV 7, 2014 The Helles of this brewery shows a cream white, dense, crispy head and deep golden blonde, bright colour; an aroma of pure and sweetish pale malts with a subtle whiff of flowery hops and impressions of vanilla, cheese spread, honey, chamomille, banana and cream; and a taste of sweetish, soft and supple malts, mild carbonation, relatively full and almost creamy at least for a lager; and finishes in a sweetish graininess with only a light, aromatic hoppiness without getting bitter, as is custom in the style. Classic example of a Münchener Helles, in my opinion.
