4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Liter at Deep Ellum, 10/23/15.
Good clarity in this soft, blonde colored beer with some deeper golden hues and a large white head that shows strong retention.
Baked bread, baguette and very light sourdough-like grains in the nose are fresh and complex. Light herbs bring up the rear and don’t really come out too prominently, but as the beer is well-attenuated and nicely balanced, it dosent need a ton of hop bitterness to balance. A bit of plaster, dough, fresh vanilla and such can be gleaned from the yeast/water, as with their other beers and is no less charming here. More fruitiness from the hops with warming, but even at the bottom of the glass, the beer never gets too sweet in aroma or flavor.
The sweetness is certainly tempered but throughout the beer maintains a malty edge. Fresh dough, nectarines and yellow cherries sit in the background to honey, baguette and fresh, spicy herbs. Good carbonation level and a richly malted texture that still allows for great drinkability. An all-around amazing beer and if they weren’t charging so god damned much for it ($18 for a liter), I’d drink it much more often.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
At their Biergarten. Aroma of cereal, hoppy resin, herbal and a bit of nutmeg in the background, after some time in the mug it smells a bit of leather too.
Golden with white foam, taste is light bitter. Soft carbonation which makes it very drinkable, a pleasant bitter background finish after drinking and thin texture which combined with overall qualities makes it a very pleasant beer to enjoy during hot days, maybe combined with creamy/savoury cheese and salty bread.
