Formerly known as Andechser Weissbier Hefetrüb.

When summer is on the way and the days invite you to swim, ramble, climb, or simply enjoy the outdoors, you will discover that an Andechser Weissbier Hell is just the right thing to quench your thirst. Since Saint Joseph’s Day on 19 March 1993, Andechs Weissbier Hell has found many new friends. Untreated and bottled in its natural state of yeasty turbidity, this is a top fermented beer for the epicure. Its light honey colour makes it an immediate eyecatcher. Then there’s the opalescence and fine structure of the yeast turbidity. At the same time, the creamy, fine pored head invites you to get to know this light Weissbier from the Holy Mountain. You’ll need two takes to enjoy the aromas to the full. First, distinctive fruity aromas like banana and honeydew melon come to the fore, followed by fine cloves. Andechser Weissbier Hell is a very tangy, refreshing treat with the conviction of a full, soft body. It concludes on a finely balanced interplay of light sweet honey and a delicate acidity with undertones of bitter hoppiness that quickly subside into a harmonious aftertaste. A Weissbier that embodies a slice of the Andechs lifestyle: finely yeasty, tangy, and sparkling, it refreshes and renews the thirst for more (original extract: 12.5%; abv: 5.5%).

Pours a very cloudy and very dark golden orange color with dark golden banana-yellow colored edges and a massive three finger, pillowy white head that very slowly settles into a lasting ring. Great retention, coating the glass with large chunks of soapy lacing on the way down. Lots of spice in the nose with a strong peppery clove presence along with prominent malted wheat and a heavy bread/yeast character. Just a touch of banana with a strong citrus/lemon zest presence. As it warms, I’m also picking up a bit of melon, grapefruit and blood orange. The nose is dominated by clove and peppery spice but the citrus element really opens up after a while. Full body with a zesty spice presence up font that lingers over the bready yeast, banana and sweet citrus notes into a slight tart, dry finish. Heavy peppery clove flavor up front but it is nicely countered by wheat, sourdough bread, banana and a very prominent citrus flavor. Lots of zesty lemon pith as well as some grapefruit and juicy blood orange. Very refreshing and although the mouthfeel is kind of heavy, it’s pretty easy to drink.

500ml bottle. Freaking life changing appearance. Blindingly brilliant clear golden yellow, like the surface of the Sun. The head billows like a cumulus cloud on a bright summer day. The bubbles are active, like spritely young whippersnappers running after the ice cream truck. Let’s get to the one other transcendent element of this brewski: the mouthfeel. The MFing MF. The MF is so MFing MF (masterful) that I MF (might fap). Light and airy, yet lively. Now the aroma is good, banana and clove, typical but well done, and the flavor, after having this twice now, is good but unfortunately has some kind of plastic note I can’t shake. Maybe I’m having the beer past prime. Other than that it’s freaking amazing. And if you’re on of those "I don’t do hefes bro, I’m converting my whole cellar to Cantillon, sours 4 life amirite but maybe I’ll force down an Alpine if I have to psych not they sold to Green Flash now I hate those guise." neckbeards, GO TO HELL!!!!!! By that I mean drink this beer. It’ll be good for you. This beer has its slight flaws overall, but it’s as well crafted as "hell" (awwwwww snap see what I did there???).and I’d drink it again anytime, even though I’m a ticker.
