COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Formerly known as Andechser Weissbier Hefetrüb.

When summer is on the way and the days invite you to swim, ramble, climb, or simply enjoy the outdoors, you will discover that an Andechser Weissbier Hell is just the right thing to quench your thirst. Since Saint Joseph’s Day on 19 March 1993, Andechs Weissbier Hell has found many new friends. Untreated and bottled in its natural state of yeasty turbidity, this is a top fermented beer for the epicure. Its light honey colour makes it an immediate eyecatcher. Then there’s the opalescence and fine structure of the yeast turbidity. At the same time, the creamy, fine pored head invites you to get to know this light Weissbier from the Holy Mountain. You’ll need two takes to enjoy the aromas to the full. First, distinctive fruity aromas like banana and honeydew melon come to the fore, followed by fine cloves. Andechser Weissbier Hell is a very tangy, refreshing treat with the conviction of a full, soft body. It concludes on a finely balanced interplay of light sweet honey and a delicate acidity with undertones of bitter hoppiness that quickly subside into a harmonious aftertaste. A Weissbier that embodies a slice of the Andechs lifestyle: finely yeasty, tangy, and sparkling, it refreshes and renews the thirst for more (original extract: 12.5%; abv: 5.5%).

500 ml bottle. Did a comparison with 3 other top rated hefes and liked this one best. Pours cloudy orange with reasonably dense and mostly lasting white head. Aroma is strong banana, sweet, cloves and some bubble gum. Tastes sweet similar to aroma and slightly acidic, creamy medium bodied with lively long lasting carbonation. Great stuff.

Very tasty Weissbier. I had visited Andechs a few years ago and really enjoyed the beer I had in their biergarten. The bottle pouts a nice cloudy yellow with a small white head. It has a light wheat taste and goes down smooth. Delicious beer.

Bottle, says L0313 on it. Must be batch 3 of 2013? Who knows, anyways, quite fresh.
Gushing! Though Im able to get it in to the glass without any spillage. Hazy, deep copper-orange body with a rather small, weakly retained white head that hangs around a covering.
Cookies, clove and bubble gum in the nose, with a lighter banana note than most hefes (fine with me). Quite a good strength to it though, with no alcohol or off-notes. Some creamy, nutty wheat and no acidity or sourness.
Soft, wheat-like palate and a bit of citrus-like acidity. Vanilla, honey and spicy clove mixed with hops on the finish. Banana and vanilla iced cream are delicious and surprisingly not too sweet (with the spiciness helping to balance). Quite light bodied, even for the style with some wateriness.
At first, I was pretty unimpressed. Not that it’s bad or anything, just a little plain. I like the lack of banana here (still there, just light). Dosent seem much like the doppelbock or volbier, however. None of the classy yeast character those had (which makes sense since those are obviously not fermented with weisse yeasts).

Draft at Brouwers. Thanks to Ken for pointing this out to me. I get so set in my ways I often don’t pay any attention to the Germans on the menu. Anyway ... Pours cloudy yellow-gold with a pillow of white head. Banana, clove, some pepper, all nicely balanced with one another. Nice caramelized sugar sweetness with a hint of lemon zest. Light body; refreshing. One heck of a nice beer all around.

500 ml bottle. Pours a cloudy yellow/orange; nice head, white and cushiony. Nose is citrus, banana. Taste is really nice - slightly sour, with the beer itself medium in body/carbonation, and simply refreshing. Looking forward to the other Anderch beers.

500 ml bottle. Pours cloudy dark orange with a high white head. Wonderful fruity wheat aroma. Great full bodied taste and slightly sour palate. One of the best existing wheat beers.
