Formerly known as Andechser Weissbier Hefetrüb.

When summer is on the way and the days invite you to swim, ramble, climb, or simply enjoy the outdoors, you will discover that an Andechser Weissbier Hell is just the right thing to quench your thirst. Since Saint Joseph’s Day on 19 March 1993, Andechs Weissbier Hell has found many new friends. Untreated and bottled in its natural state of yeasty turbidity, this is a top fermented beer for the epicure. Its light honey colour makes it an immediate eyecatcher. Then there’s the opalescence and fine structure of the yeast turbidity. At the same time, the creamy, fine pored head invites you to get to know this light Weissbier from the Holy Mountain. You’ll need two takes to enjoy the aromas to the full. First, distinctive fruity aromas like banana and honeydew melon come to the fore, followed by fine cloves. Andechser Weissbier Hell is a very tangy, refreshing treat with the conviction of a full, soft body. It concludes on a finely balanced interplay of light sweet honey and a delicate acidity with undertones of bitter hoppiness that quickly subside into a harmonious aftertaste. A Weissbier that embodies a slice of the Andechs lifestyle: finely yeasty, tangy, and sparkling, it refreshes and renews the thirst for more (original extract: 12.5%; abv: 5.5%).

Milky golden pour, nice head retention. I’m not really sure what to say about this one. Everything you look for in a good hefe is there, but nothing really sets it apart. Its very nicely balanced, and is a great example of the style, but it doesn’t have that little something that sets a brew like weihenstephaner apart on its own level. Very enjoyable though.

Pours light yellow/honey with huge foamy head. Despite the fizz the carbonation is soft on the tongue and is a light beer overwall. Toasted wheat, clove, banana, touch of stone fruit, light hop finish.

Color dorado amarillento con capa de espuma blanca de más de un dedo de grosor (se disipa antes que en otras cervezas de trigo). Carbonatación a tope (no tan presente en boca). Aroma a trigo, pan y plátano. Sabor típico de Hefeweizen, similar a la Paulaner Naturtrüb. Con más matices y sabor más redondo que otras Hefeweizen, pero tampoco nada que me rompa los esquemas. Disfrutable.

16.9oz bottle 8/8/16 (Binny’s-Naperville)-48° in Weizen Glass-Pours a murky orange with a small white head. Aroma of clove, banana coriander, and wheat. Taste of the same with spices coming in on the back end. This light to medium bodied brew is well balanced and hits the spot on a hot day.

Bottle from Mollie Stone’s in Belmont, CA. Aroma is fruity floral, light banana. Taste is yeasty, light and refreshing fruits. Really like most of the beers that Andechser does but honestly I thought this was a bit thin / watery. Needed a minor punch up in flavor.

Tap. Pours Cloudy yellow/gold. Aroma of banana, yeast, cloves and bubblegum. Nice and smooth with nicely balanced flavor. Fresh and drinkable, went down in about 5 minutes on a warm summers day in Munich.

This is a fantastic Weissber specimen, hitting all of the right criteria for the style. Not very sweet, but still has hints of banana and fully yeasty/bready/wheaty as it should be. Effervescent, thinnish body that goes right down. Nicely turbid and somewhat tart finish.

0,5 l Flasche. Aroma: Hefig. Erscheinung: Orangegelbes, trübes Bier, flacher, schnell abbauender cremeweißer Schaum. Geschmack: süßlich, hefig, kaum bitter. Nachgeschmack: Süße hält sich, schön cremig auf der Zunge. Gesamt: Gutes Weizen.
