COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Formerly known as Andechser Weissbier Hefetrüb.

When summer is on the way and the days invite you to swim, ramble, climb, or simply enjoy the outdoors, you will discover that an Andechser Weissbier Hell is just the right thing to quench your thirst. Since Saint Joseph’s Day on 19 March 1993, Andechs Weissbier Hell has found many new friends. Untreated and bottled in its natural state of yeasty turbidity, this is a top fermented beer for the epicure. Its light honey colour makes it an immediate eyecatcher. Then there’s the opalescence and fine structure of the yeast turbidity. At the same time, the creamy, fine pored head invites you to get to know this light Weissbier from the Holy Mountain. You’ll need two takes to enjoy the aromas to the full. First, distinctive fruity aromas like banana and honeydew melon come to the fore, followed by fine cloves. Andechser Weissbier Hell is a very tangy, refreshing treat with the conviction of a full, soft body. It concludes on a finely balanced interplay of light sweet honey and a delicate acidity with undertones of bitter hoppiness that quickly subside into a harmonious aftertaste. A Weissbier that embodies a slice of the Andechs lifestyle: finely yeasty, tangy, and sparkling, it refreshes and renews the thirst for more (original extract: 12.5%; abv: 5.5%).

Milky golden pour, nice head retention. I’m not really sure what to say about this one. Everything you look for in a good hefe is there, but nothing really sets it apart. Its very nicely balanced, and is a great example of the style, but it doesn’t have that little something that sets a brew like weihenstephaner apart on its own level. Very enjoyable though.

500ml bottle [Hard to reach the (actually) 6:0 demand of the German Football team with six Weizen(s) at this historic evening, seven just in this moment]. Hazy golden colour with huge, frothy, fairly lasting, white head. Wheaty and yeasty aroma, fruity hints of apple and clove. Taste is wheaty, yeasty, fruity notes of pear, apple, a touch of banana, clove; creamy texture close to a Weizenbock. Very nice.

UPDATED: JUN 8, 2014 Bottle 500ml at Restaurant Rattstube, Rudenheim am Rhein, Hesse. Hazy gold with white head. This proved to have quite a fresh taste, lemony, hints of spice and fruitiness, not to much of the weissbier character, which is a good thing for me. Likeable.

Keg at Kings Arms. It pours hazy golden with a medium white head. The nose is fresh, spicy, clove, banana bread, doughy and hay. The taste is smooth, banana, orange peel, clove rock, toast, hay and dough with a dry, citric finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Well-rounded classic weissbier action.

Draft at Dutch’s. Pours a hazy golden color with a small white head. The aroma and flavor have pale wheat malts, banana, mild cloves and spices, light citrus, vanilla, very tasty and solid for the style.
