COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Formerly known as Andechser Weissbier Hefetrüb.

When summer is on the way and the days invite you to swim, ramble, climb, or simply enjoy the outdoors, you will discover that an Andechser Weissbier Hell is just the right thing to quench your thirst. Since Saint Joseph’s Day on 19 March 1993, Andechs Weissbier Hell has found many new friends. Untreated and bottled in its natural state of yeasty turbidity, this is a top fermented beer for the epicure. Its light honey colour makes it an immediate eyecatcher. Then there’s the opalescence and fine structure of the yeast turbidity. At the same time, the creamy, fine pored head invites you to get to know this light Weissbier from the Holy Mountain. You’ll need two takes to enjoy the aromas to the full. First, distinctive fruity aromas like banana and honeydew melon come to the fore, followed by fine cloves. Andechser Weissbier Hell is a very tangy, refreshing treat with the conviction of a full, soft body. It concludes on a finely balanced interplay of light sweet honey and a delicate acidity with undertones of bitter hoppiness that quickly subside into a harmonious aftertaste. A Weissbier that embodies a slice of the Andechs lifestyle: finely yeasty, tangy, and sparkling, it refreshes and renews the thirst for more (original extract: 12.5%; abv: 5.5%).

Milky golden pour, nice head retention. I’m not really sure what to say about this one. Everything you look for in a good hefe is there, but nothing really sets it apart. Its very nicely balanced, and is a great example of the style, but it doesn’t have that little something that sets a brew like weihenstephaner apart on its own level. Very enjoyable though.

Opaque, applesauce/custard looking brew. White head. Classic continental pint bottle and label. Yeasty, fruity, wheaty aroma. Nicely hopped, a pleasant acidity and fruity banana quality. Body has a great effervescence, and the mouthfeel is starchy but a little thin. Classic, archetypal. ABC Liquors, Betton.

On tap. First taste of this. Characteristic hefeweizen yet a bit shy in both the aroma and flavor departments. All the right notes are there but on this particular occasion they seemed one or two degrees more subdued than I expected them to be. Just doesn’t quite reach the level of my own favorites but I would definitely give this another shot.

Tallahassee, Fl - ABC Fine Wine & Spirits - Betton - 500 ml bottle. Hazy, light orange pour, initial snow white head that fades after a while. Clove and coriander in the aroma. Solid, classic hefeweizen flavor with some light banana accents, a touch of coriander, some clove notes in the back end. Mouthfeel has a decent thickness to it.

Bottle from Trinkgut in Kleve. The beer is yellow and hazy and pours a large white head, with nice carbonation. The aroma is a rich palate of bananas, melons and some spices (cloves). The taste is soft and full bodied, with a light sweetness with fruits and honey, to change into a well balanced bitterness from the spices and the hops. To conclude into a refreshing, fruity and light bitter aftertaste. Very nice Weizen from one of the best brewers for me in Germany.

A good weissbier, with light body and strong banana taste. Easy to enjoy, maybe a bit watery...

500ml bottle. Pours hazy yellow with a frothy white head. Aroma is typical hefeweizen - wheat, banana, cloves. Flavour is similar. A good one, but not the best.

Andechser Weissbier Hell has an extremely thick, white, spongy head, some lingering lacing, and a hazy, yellow-gold (gold, once the bottom caked contents are swished and poured in), and fierce bubble streams. The aroma is of some banana, coriander, clove, and white bread, with a background of hard-boiled egg. Taste is of spiced, white bread, Cream-O-Wheat, and tap water. Mouthfeel is medium, and Andechser Weissbier Hell finishes wet, drinkable, and a bit dull. RJT
