COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Formerly known as Andechser Weissbier Hefetrüb.

When summer is on the way and the days invite you to swim, ramble, climb, or simply enjoy the outdoors, you will discover that an Andechser Weissbier Hell is just the right thing to quench your thirst. Since Saint Joseph’s Day on 19 March 1993, Andechs Weissbier Hell has found many new friends. Untreated and bottled in its natural state of yeasty turbidity, this is a top fermented beer for the epicure. Its light honey colour makes it an immediate eyecatcher. Then there’s the opalescence and fine structure of the yeast turbidity. At the same time, the creamy, fine pored head invites you to get to know this light Weissbier from the Holy Mountain. You’ll need two takes to enjoy the aromas to the full. First, distinctive fruity aromas like banana and honeydew melon come to the fore, followed by fine cloves. Andechser Weissbier Hell is a very tangy, refreshing treat with the conviction of a full, soft body. It concludes on a finely balanced interplay of light sweet honey and a delicate acidity with undertones of bitter hoppiness that quickly subside into a harmonious aftertaste. A Weissbier that embodies a slice of the Andechs lifestyle: finely yeasty, tangy, and sparkling, it refreshes and renews the thirst for more (original extract: 12.5%; abv: 5.5%).

UPDATED: SEP 12, 2012 Draft: #25 on my RateBeer travel list to Germany. This could be the dictionary description of a German Hefeweizen, yellow-orange and cloudy, sweet banana and vanilla malt. Aroma a bit weak. Solid. Food Pairing: Fresh green salad and white fish.

Clásica cerveza de trigo. Color amarillo claro, buena formación de espuma y buena estabilidad. Aroma y sabor a plátano y clavo. En boca se percibe más intensamente la malta y notas intensas de levadura. Retrogusto de suave acidez y especias. Buen cuerpo y buena carbonatación, muy refrescante y buena representante del estilo típico de Baviera. (Botella, 500 ml)

Draught from bar castello, malcesine. Cloudy golden ale with an impressive foamy white head. Nutty and fruity with banana and apricot. Taste is sweet and slightly sour, dry and long lasting. Carbonation is prickly and body medium. Not bad.

500 ml bottle. Cloudy honey gold color. Large rocky white head. Aroma has notes of yeast, buttery wheat malt, banana and melon. Flavor is tangy fruit with sweet notes of honey and banana. Very subtle yeasty notes. Lemony citrus hops in finish. Very nice and drinkable. An outstanding example of A Bavarian weissbier.

Tasted under its old name Andechser Weissbier Hefetrüb. Typical German Hefeweizen with a very thick and rocky, almost ice-cream like, sticky head and a murky, ochre blonde colour. Aroma has wheat, vanilla, iron, bread, freshly cut pear, some white pepper; taste a gentle and subdued sweetishness, somewhat powdery mouthfeel, a bit metallic, light wheat sourishness, refreshing, finish light sourish and grainy, thirst-quenching.

On tap at Andechser am Dom Munich. Cloudy gold pour with lacy white head. Aroma is fruity, good banana clove, peach notes in there as well, particularly fruity, nice floral graininess that isn’t completely crushed by esters. Taste is light, fruity, not really spicy, very light yeast profile which is enjoyable, bready and vnever cloying. Palate is a bit on the rough side, found it harshly carbed, body is med-light though. Nice.

Bottle thanks to WillRunForBeer for hunting this down for me. Shared at mrebeks. Cloudy light orange pour with a pillow-y head that fades somewhat quickly. Banana pudding dominates the aroma with hints of clove and bubblegum. Tastes like creamy liquid bananas. Really tasty. Light clove in the finish. Delicious hefe.

Bottle: The aroma consists of banana, citrus, clove, and faint bubblegum. It pours a hazy golden-orange with a one finger white head that fades to a thin film outlined by a soapy ring. The flavor starts with moderate banana and lighter citrus. There’s a touch of bubblegum the middle. The finish has clove and light wheaty notes. It’s light-medium bodied with light-moderate carbonation.
