The aroma has some piney hop bitterness in addition to apricot-like sweetness. Bitterness wins out on the initial taste, with a solid malty backbone that has that hint of dark fruit. Overall the hop profile isn’t as strong as most contemporaries of this style, but its still a decent beer that hides its higher abv pretty well. bsjay (54), Oregon, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 15, 2009 Malty and not overly hoppy in aroma, I didn’t feel it carried itself as an imperial necessarily, but made for a nice ipa in taste, a stealthy iipa in abv. screigh (260), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 27, 2009 Pours a nice copper color. Slightly off-white head. Some lasting power but little lacing. Aroma is of citrus and sugar. Taste is almost like a breakfast blend of citrus fruits with some pineapple thrown in. Nice and light on the palate with some bitterness lingering. I would like some more hop aroma and flavor but a decent offering. wavers1 (135), novato, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 17, 2009 nice AB+V brew. very malt forward both on the nose and back palate. front mouthfeel is still pure iipa, tons of hop bursts. but a lot of bw traits here. nice brew, not thier most refined offering. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 8, 2009 A golden amber ale with a thick lacing off white head. Intense aroma of bready malt, pinhey hops, very floral, some menthiol, very nice. In mouth, a good biscuitty malt overlayed by intense c-hops, light grapefruits, pinhey and resinous. Rich and smooth I2PA with warming alcohol final. Bottle from Bottle Barn, tasted August 18, 2009. Papsoe (14982), Frederiksberg, Denmark
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 5, 2009 Bottle 65 cl. Clear amber golden with a creamy yellowish head leaving broad curtains of lacework. Sweetish aroma of burned caramel rather than hops. Quite full-bodied with sweet burned caramel and a lightly spicy edge from the hops without ever being overly bitter. 250709 msante79 (823), Orland Hills, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 30, 2009 Bomber. Pours hazy orange with white head. Aroma is sweet malt, caramel, hops and orange and other citrus. Flavor is dominated by sweet malt with some bitter hops, citrus and caramel. A little too much sweet malt and not enough hops and citrus. Not enough balance. Decent ale just not worth a 20th anniversary brew in my opinion. cstuartj (306), Washington, USA
