Smells of citrus, dough, some sweet malt. Tastes of pepper, earth, citrus, some resiny hints. Nicely crafted and a brew that seems to blend malt and hops well. Zinister (1199), Houston, Texas, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 13, 2008 Shared with MaltOMeal and thickfreakness. Rich golden color with no real head. Nose of oranges, mangos and spicy, piney hops. Flavor has nice bitterness that’s bit stronger than the malt flavors. Palate is a bit harsh and the finish is a bit pithy. Starts great, finishes a bit dry and astringent. HogTownHarry (3993), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada

Bright, fairly clear orange pour, small frothy off-white head. Sweet aroma of orange zest and dry resiny bitter hops, leafy and slightly boozy. Taste - very very dryly bitter, crushed maple leaves in the finish. Average body, nice astringent bite, long bitter finish. Solid, not great. MakeItDrinkIt (66), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 11, 2008 Golden amber color with a thin off-white head. Aroma is citrus, resin, pine and lightly sweet. Flavor is a very nice big round orange slushy of an IPA - sweet, hopppy, very nicely balanced. Finish is like a tangerine dream - one of teh best double India Pale Ale’s I have had. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 10, 2008 22oz bottle. Aroma was of caramel, light flowery hops, apricot, orange, and fruit pastry. Poured a clear dark orange color. The head was white with good retention. Medium bodied and slightly sweet. There was moderate hop bitterness that outlasted the sugars, lingering well after the finish. Very fruity flavor including the likes of orange, pineapple, and mango. The alcohol flavor and fruit gave it an almost liqueur note. There was also caramel and a hint of toasted bread. Pretty good stuff. paytoplay (123), , California, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Jul 10, 2008 What 1st strikes you is the color. Like amber from ancient tree sap. Almost ruby. Aroma is ok, woody and dark hops. The flavor is where this beer really impressed me. Layers of stuff going on, intense, balanced and dense with weight and complexity to it that I haven’t experienced in any other recent Imperial IPA’s. My rating is higher than most but I think this beer needed some time to come around and put on weight, much like a wine. Will have to get more and try one in a year and see if it continues to get better. KAggie97 (2427), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jul 10, 2008 Bottle from IrishBoy. Thanks! Pours a deep, sappy amber with a malty grapefruit nose. Flavor is grapefruit biscuit with a floral finish. Mouthfeel is nice and thick, leaving a lasting film of flavor on the tongue. Nice beer, but I prefer a little less malt in my IPAs.
