Had on draft at the brewery. This is a solid saison. There is a phenolic yeast character. There are some floral notes, a form bitterness, grainy, and some astringency.

Basically ginger beer and not a Saison. At least not of what I have experienced. Girly beer. Yuck. It is unbelieveable how many bad beers I will try to get to a great one. This ones is pretty bad.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 ChainGangGuy (4132) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - NOV 22, 2012
Appearance: Served up a hazed, golden-amber body with a medium-sized, creamyish, white head.
Smell: A mingled, mixed aroma of waterlogged spices atop the base malt melange.
Taste: Initially tangy, but also a bit sugary. Slightly grainy. Some appleskin and apricot fruitiness. Some perceived ’heat’ from the ginger, a little anise, too. Slight bitterness. Remains tangy, vaguely fruity until the drying finish with some lingering spice.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-plus carbonation.
Overall: If I were to line up my saisons in order of preference, Mowkeef would be right near the end.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 SSSteve (3390) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - NOV 18, 2012
growler. slight haze in a gold beer with small head. nose is mainly pale malt, not really getting any spices of other grains. subtle spice addition that brings forth an almost herbal, minty character which is confusing considering the spices are ginger and anise. i suppose the coriander is most prominent. palate is light, dry, crisp. nice beer.

Keg at City Swiggers, NYC thanks to Sander. Pours clear, dark gold with a frothy, white cream head. Toasty wheat aroma, lots of spices, grain. Medium sweet flavor, spicy, with light citrus, pumpkin, coriander, faint dry grass. Light to medium in body with fine carbonation. Faintly dry to finish with toasty malts, light grass, herbs and spices, some toasty sugars. A very enjoyable saison.

Palate: The body of this beer is medium, it has a creamy feel, a soft carbonation, and a clean finish

I found this to be a very solid offering from Anderson Valley. The nose was a little dull, but overall, this was some good stuff.

Barcade, NY tap ($6): Pours an orange color with a white head. Aroma is saison funk, fruitiness, and dry hops. Taste is fairly standard for the style. Taste is also fairly typical. Nice dryness. There is some light bitterness. It does have the farmhouse taste pretty much down though. Good, but nothing special.
