3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 rudolf (2245) - Buffalo, USA - OCT 31, 2011
Draft at Coles. Hazy light gold, thin white head. Nose is DuPont-esque phenols - pear, lemon zest, band aid, sweet but unripe berry, lightly toasted malt, earthy/clay, a little caramel comes out in the finish. Flavor is spicy (pepper) with a bunch of yeasty spice. It’s quite dry - almost woody won a strong bitterness. A little grassy/herbal hop character comes out in the finish.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 corby112 (1904) - philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 2, 2012
Draft at Small Bar in San Diego.
Pours a hazy dark golden orange color with a one finger frothy white head that very slowly fades into a lasting ring. Large spots of lace left behind.
Earthy aroma with subtle zesty spice countering funky saison yeast, bread and light fruit notes. Hints of clove, banana, apple, pear, straw and grass.
Medium bodied with a nice balance of subtle, earthy funk, zesty spice and light fruit. Hints of grass and straw along with some pear and banana. Spices are there for balance but done subtly. Could use more funky yeast instead of the strong bread character that it possesses but its still refreshing and drinkable with a well masked ABV.

Orange hue with thin head. Tastes spicey-orange due in part to the ginger. Maybe a little too much like cough medicine...

UPDATED: FEB 17, 2012 On tap @ Fulton Grand w Erica. Pours medium yellow with big head. Aroma is awesome: nice cutting funk with citrus and yeast. Just potent enough. Palate is surprisingly little citrus with a generous helping of yeast. Great example of the style without relying too much on zest/citrus. Crisp, refreshing, not too astringent.
