4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 bigabe (194) - California, USA - FEB 1, 2011
On tap at Matteo’s Public in Nevada City, CA. Deep dark black, almost opaque, with a thin white head that quickly dissipates. Lacing clings to the glass as you drink. Aroma is like someone took an IPA and dumped it over an oak fire. It’s herby and floral, yet smoky and malty. Flavor is similar to aroma. Definite IPA bitterness and depth, but with a roasted malt background. Malts tame this beer and make it a high IBU IPA that is easy and refreshing.
