4.4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
I have grown to find other stouts, but this is the one that I grew up on. On tap at Father’s Office in Santa Monica circa 1995. Boontalicious!

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22 oz bottle, pours black with a tan head. sweet chocolate aroma, a bit of roasted barley in excellent balance with oat and other starchy grains. foremost it’s sweet with coffee, toast, roast, and little alcohol. body is full and creamy - this is an excellent beer, would line up well with kalamazoo stout.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sweet and easy drinking. This has a beautiful dark brownish-black pour... a huge chocolate mousse head leaves chunky lace. The nose has wheat, oats, roasted grains and mocha/milk chocolate notes. Sweet grain and chocolates to the tongue... light on the palate, but decently bodied... a creamy mouthfeel with great carbonation levels to add the perfect amount of crispness. The finish is indeed bittersweet, without bittering too much as to contrast the rest of the pull. Nice integration here, from beginning to end. This is a linear pull that leads from the front- to back-palates very well. Great example of the style!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
This was the first stout I ever really got into way back when. Pours dark with a small tan head. Aroma is roasty, flavors are definitely describable as bittersweet and roasty. Pretty good, not what it used to be for me, but enjoyable nonetheless.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
22 oz bottle. A year old? Dark brown with a boistrous sepia head. No lace. Musty grapes, coffee and crayons. Tangy chocolate with tongue-biting carb. Smooths into orange oatmeal cookies. Crisp and very drinkable. I really like this CA take on a sweet stout.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
I am usually a huge fan of Oatmeal Stouts/Sweet Stouts, but this one was not my favorite. Aroma was sweet and roasty. Pours black with a brown head. I did not think it was anywhere near as complex as the previous dude, but whatever. It was very roasty, had a nice sweet malty character, as well as notes of vanilla and a nice mild black coffee bitterness. It finishes dry and sweet. Had a nice hefty mouthfeel, but although nice and pleasant, nothing stood out as spectacular.

5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Been looking forward to this one b/c the guy in MarCellars highly recommended it. Almost black color. Big tan head. Sweet chocolatey aroma. Big chocolate flavor. Very good creamy palate. Great sipping beer. Excellent beer all around. I brought back a bunch of beer from WY and ID but this is the one I most wish I could get regularily. Perfect in my mind. Only my 2nd 5 but this deserves it.
