Very fine stout. unclemike (834), Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA Jan 17, 2009 Excellent stout, light black color as just a touch of light was allowed through, brown head with a great sticky lacing around the glass, nose full of chocolate, bread, coffee & a little yeast, medium in body, very drinkable & very smooth, rich flavors with notes of expresso, light chocolate & a touch of bitter hops, deep & rich finish with more notes of chocolate & burnt malt, great mouthfeel, a really enjoyable stout
anders37 (4516), Malmö, Sweden Jan 9, 2009 Draft @ AVBC, Boonville, CA. Pours a black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty chocolate aroma. Roasted malty chocolate and coffee flavor. Has a roasted malty finish with hints of coffee and chocolate in the aftertaste. JaBier (1130), Capital City, Ohio, USA Jan 5, 2009 22oz bottle, and I thought they only bottled in 12s. Darkest brown pour with a minimal beige head. Sweet nose with some coffee presence. Sweet malt flavor with a coffee finish. Had this one before and have never been disappointed. cgarvieuk (4159), Edinburgh, Scotland Dec 27, 2008 Deep black ... sour roast malt nose ... odd!.... nice roast little chocolate but the flavour isnt so sour but its got quite a lot of lemon [this is 4 months ive had it and may be past bbf, i cant see one ] decent but might have been better if id had it earlier arondee (176), Tucson, Arizona, USA Dec 24, 2008 Dark brown/black pour. Medium to full bodied. Smells of coffee and dark chocolate, roasted malts. Tastes of the same with a sweet oat finish, slightly bitter but not overly. Great for what it is. I am really not big on the style but the beer is well made. nickd717 (1276), Palo Alto, California, USA Dec 19, 2008 I am not a big fan of things called "Barney"-anything after having disturbing images seared into my head thanks to a goofy, ambiguously gay purple dinosaur...and the cops, who people also call "Barney" sometimes. This Barney was a pleasant surprise, however. Roasted malts, coffee/chocolate flavors, oaty creaminess. Full mouthfeel. I approve of this Barney, but strongly disapprove of the others. MOboy (446), Kansas City, Missouri, USA Dec 14, 2008 Deep, dark brown with moderately full body, too much carbonation and no personality whatsoever.
