COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
With its deep, dark brown-black color, thick, full-bodied, velvety-smooth mouth feel, mocha character, and, strong yet subtle hop bite, Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout is one of the thickest, richest, and most complex stouts on the market today.

bottle. Poured a dark dark brown color with a medium off-white head. Sweet malty nose with a little scent of bitternesss. The first sip is very dry but turns sweet just before the finish and finishes smooth. Full bodied. I was very impressed byu this stout.

dark black body, with a chocolate colored head that lightened up after a minute or two. Very malty smooth tasting for a thick bodied beer. some bitter flavors in there but the worked nicely.

This poured out with an opaque black body and a dark tan smallish head. The head quickly died leaving little lace in its wake. Smells of roasted malt and dark chocolate fill the nose. Taste is similar with a bitter dark chocolate flavor backed by a slight grainy taste and some caramel. The finish is bitter with a roasted hoppy flavor that is dry. The body is medium to full with a slick mouthfeel. This went down fairly easy with a very filling quality about it that would discourage me from having another in the same session but I would definitely pick this one up again. Its a good oatmeal stout but not one of my favorites.

UPDATED: FEB 11, 2005 Poured black as midnight with a soft tannish head. Dark roasted, coffee, and delicious chocolate aroma. Rich chocolate, creamy mocha coffee, and slightly bitter at the finish. Medium-bodied and somewhat thin. Overall, this is a tasty stout that would be delicious with quality chocolates.

Opaque blackish brown. Sweet coffee aroma. Wonderful creamy mouthfeel with coffee oatmeal. Not a huge robust flavor like some stouts, just delicous and drinkable.

Black as night with a quickly disappearing tan head. Nice to look at. Smell is also very nice, typically roasted smell, some chocolate, some hops in the back. Kinda reminds me of some of the Bell’s beers. On the tongue, comes across as slightly overcarbonated. Initial pretty sweet with an almost rootbeer like taste, though not THAT sweet. Some chocolate and coffee in the finish. Quite a nice beer.

Surprisingly refreshing for such a decidedly dark beer. Black color w/ a deep copper head. Just a slight roasted flavor - almost a mild chickory. Modest carbonation note. Really a nice find - hope to try it on tap some day.

Bottle poured a dark black with great roasty aroma and flavor. Roast malts and chocolate, medium body gets betteras it warms up.

Muddy brown body below an average tan head. Nice vanilla, chocolate, mocha and malt aroma. Good hop balance, with a bit of hop aftertaste. Another qulity brew from a California Micro Staple.
