COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
With its deep, dark brown-black color, thick, full-bodied, velvety-smooth mouth feel, mocha character, and, strong yet subtle hop bite, Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout is one of the thickest, richest, and most complex stouts on the market today.

Black with ruby edges when held up to light. Thick creamy dense head that diminishes quickly but lingers. Has a nice cookie dough aroma with roasted malt. Body is smooth and medium to full. Flavor is a bit weak with roasted malt in the foreground. Has slight bitterness and finishes dry. Not as sweet as I'd like it to be. Overall a quality beer though.

Sweet and syrupy with a dry finish. Nice molasses smell. Could have used a little less body or a little less sweetness. Very passable.

Thick head. Drier than most oatmeal stouts. The oatmeal is present but is somewhat dominated by the dryness. Overall, not that bad.

Pours damn near opaque, with a huge frothy tannish head. Wine like aromas dominate this beer. Fruit and malt are standing out the most. A tad bit of hops is hanging out. Roasted malts, caramel are in the flavor, a bit of grape finishes it off. Nothing bad about this stout.

A nice rich brownish black color with a moderate muddy head. A powerful yet very bland vanilla aroma. An odd flavor, a strange soapyness to the body also. Creamy and kinda boring, but its not really my bag anyway.

Black/brown with a nice lofty head. Oatmeal nose. First sip shows medium. creamy body, very sweet on my lips. Bitterness is sharp and quick to take over. Leaves a bit of the chocolatey taste behind. The taste is ove and gone quit quickly, but smooth, creamy and refreshing. Yum!

UPDATED: SEP 4, 2004 Soft foamy tan head and muddy brown body. Charred chocolate gingerbread with coffee grounds. Smoky aftertaste.

A very good stout - bot I'd expect nothing less from AV. Great aroma, color, and flavor. Very good!

Dark opaque and almost black with a brown head that was bubbly and not too high. Sweet with coffee and chocolate aromas. The taste has a tart smoky quality with a hint of bitterness. Not overly heavy, but vertainly not a weak stout.

Nearly opaque with reddish highlights. A nice creamy tan head produced above average lace. Love that Oatmeal stout aroma, it's all there, but a bit weak. Chocolate mocha, coffee, oats, caramel, aromatic hops, touch fruity and earthy yeast esters. Smooth, creamy, lush mouthfeel led to a rich bittersweet taste with a acadic citrus and twangy smoky undertone and finish. Nice! Surprised at the low rating, I liked it a lot. My #3 sweet stout at this moment.
